2022 Silverstone Moto2 FP3 Result: Dixon Shines On Home Soil

The final practice session in the intermediate class was a bit of a déjà vu, with local favourite Jake Dixon chasing Augusto Fernandez’s benchmark set on Friday for the whole session and eventually taking control of the timesheets with a couple of minutes remaining. That left Fernandez with a four-tenth deficit to the leader, while Aron Canet made a late jump into third, as the final rider within half a second of Dixon.

Despite a tumble at turn 15 halfway through proceedings, Ai Ogura held onto fourth position, with Bo Bendsneyder completing the top five, courtesy of his final flying lap. Alonso Lopez also helped himself to sixth in the closing stages, ahead of compatriot Albert Arenas and with Americans Cameron Beaubier and Joe Roberts close behind. Celestino Vietti rounded out the top 10 positions, while Filip Salac made some late improvements to secure 11th place.

Tony Arbolino was the only rider not to improve his time from Friday but that was quick enough to keep him 12th on the combined standings, while the remaining Q2 tickets went to Jeremy Alcoba and Marcel Schrotter – despite a late tumble for the German.
