2021 Mugello MotoGP FP3 Result: Bagnaia Bags Another Home Run

Day 2 in Mugello for the premier class started even closer than it finished on Friday and even though Pecco Bagnaia kept prime position, he was one of the last riders to go faster than FP2. When he did, however, the Italian also claimed the all time lap record to start the morning a tenth or so quicker than championship leader Fabio Quartararo. In addition to the Ducati man, Brad Binder was the other rider a bit sluggish in finding time on Saturday morning but he turned it around in the final time attack to climb into an impressive third position.

Jack Miller and Johann Zarco completed the top five for Ducati, while Alex Rins made a late jump to sixth, having spent much of the session as the locomotive for Marc Marquez. Miguel Oliveira's seventh place ensured that both factory KTMs join Q2, with Joan Mir completing the Suzuki line-up as well. Pol Espargaro in ninth place was the sole Honda in a top 10 completed by Franco Morbidelli and covered by only four tenths of a second.

Maverick Viñales missed out on Q2 places by three hundredths of a second but a crash at turn 12 in the final couple of minutes was his undoing. Marc Marquez got some premium tows throughout the session and despite finishing down in 12th, the Spaniard was only half a second off top spot. Aleix Espargaro will also join his compatriots in Q1, as will Takaaki Nakagami and home hero Valentino Rossi, while Lorenzo Savadori in 19th position finished within a second of the leader.

2021 Mugello Moto3 FP3 Result: Migno Claims Lap Record

Another beautiful morning in Mugello brought another usual battle for the top 14 in the lightweight class, this time with a full 15 minutes dedicated to fresh rubber. After Sergio Garcia drew closer to the lap record on his first outing, it looked like Jaume Masia would claim the honour the second time around, but Andrea Migno was keen to keep the all time lap record in the home team and went a couple tenths faster than the previous benchmark. Masia had to settle for second, closely followed by Gabriel Rodrigo and Garcia.

Jason Dupasquier continues to impress, this time in fifth position and closely followed by Jeremy Alcoba, the Spaniard being the final rider to post a time within half a second of the leader. The rest of the top ten, comprised by Ayumu Sasaki, Stefano Nepa, John McPhee and Romano Fenati, was covered by one tenth of a second, while the top 17 riders finished within a second of top spot. Amongst them, however, only Deniz Öncü, Filip Salac, Dennis Foggia and Darryn Binder secured a ticket directly into Q2, the FP2 leader only 17th in the session but fast enough on Friday to ensure safe passage.

Championship leader Pedro Acosta briefly flirted with the top 14 but quickly got demoted to 16th on the combined standings and will enjoy another Q1 outing later today, together with the likes of Tatsuki Suzuki and Niccolò Antonelli.

2021 Estoril World Superbike FP2 Result: Razgatlioglu Quickest Again

In what's becoming a regular occurence, Toprak Razgatlioglu ended Friday on top of the timing sheets, with Scott Redding in second place after the red-flagged second session. Michael Ruben Rinaldi and Garrett Gerloff held off Jonathan Rea and Alex Lowes, neither of whom could improve on their morning's result. Kohta Nozane, bringing out the red flags, ended his day in the medical centre after a turn thirteen crash, but he has been declared fit for tomorrow.

2021 Mugello Moto2 FP2 Result: Lowes Tops After Roberts Tumbles

Sam Lowes closed Day 1 at Mugello by topping the second practice session, as well as the combined standings in the intermediate class, taking over top spot for the final five minutes of FP1. Until that moment, Raul Fernandez had led the way for much of the session, also adding an impressive save at San Donato to his rookie repertoire. After a low-key morning, Jorge Navarro climbed up to third, three tenths off the leader and another tenth ahead of home favourite Marco Bezzecchi. Tony Arbolino continues to impress in Mugello by keeping inside the top five of both sessions, ahead of compatriot Fabio Di Giannantonio.

Remy Gardner was one of the few riders whose FP2 session was a touch slower than FP1 but the championship leader stayed seventh in both the session and the combined times. Xavi Vierge, Joe Roberts and Marcel Schrotter completed a top ten covered by one second, although the American had limited track time after an early crash at turn three forced him to miss most of the session. However, his session-topping time from the morning kept him safely inside the combined top four. The rest of the provisional top 14 positions are held by Augusto Fernandez, Aron Canet, Somkiat Chantra and Hector Garzo.

2021 Mugello MotoGP FP2 Result: Bagnaia Bids For Home Glory

The sublime setting of Tuscan hills bathed in sunshine deserved some home heroes to come to the fore in FP2 and best placed to do so was Pecco Bagnaia, the Ducati man taking the lead at the last second, after showing solid race pace too. Alex Rins was keen to make amends for the poor results of late and briefly topped the session before getting demoted to second for seven hundredths of a second.

Franco Morbidelli finished the day one tenth slower than his leading compatriot, while Fabio Quartararo pushed for top honours but was hindered by traffic on a couple of flying laps and had to make do with fourth. After Miguel Oliveira topped much of the session, Brad Binder got ahead of his teammate to join the top five and demote the Portuguese rider to sixth. Takaaki Nakagami was the last rider within half a second of the leader but closely followed by Aleix Espargaro and Jack Miller. Although FP1 leader Maverick Viñales showed good speed throughout the session, a fast off-track excursion at Arrabbiata 2 halted his late attack and left him 17th on the timesheets, although his FP1 time was good enough for eighth place on the combined standings.

Johann Zarco was the only other rider who failed to go quicker than in FP1 and the Frenchman provisionally dropped out of the top 10 overall. With pleasant conditions predicted for FP3, Zarco, together with the likes of Joan Mir, Marc Marquez and Pol Espargaro should get a solid chance at bidding for Q2 places on Saturday morning. So will home favourite Valentino Rossi, although the Doctor struggled to reduce the deficit to the leader to under a second and a half after two trips through the gravel trap at San Donato.

2021 Mugello Moto3 FP2 Result: Binder Takes The Lead

The sun continued to smile over the lightweight class as the second practice session got underway and FP1 times were quick to tumble, much like championship leader Pedro Acosta. While the Spaniard recorded the first crash of the weekend in Moto3, his rivals were trading top spot in the session, with Darryn Binder the eventual victor by two tenths of a second. Dennis Foggia made his way towards the top of the timesheets of his home race to finish the day second, less than a tenth ahead of John McPhee.

Romano Fenati in fourth was half a second slower than the leader and marginally quicker than Gabriel Rodrigo. Tatsuki Suzuki led the way going into the final time attack, before dropping back to sixth spot, ahead of Deniz Öncü and Niccolò Antonelli. FP1 leader Andrea Migno finished ninth, while Jaume Masia completed a top ten covered by nine tenths of a second. Riccardo Rossi in 11th position was one second down on the leader, while the remaining positions in the provisional top 14 went to Carlos Tatay, Stefano Nepa and Jason Dupasquier. Acosta did not rejoin after his crash at the final corner and got pushed down to 16th position but will get another opportunity to make amends, with excellent conditions forecast for Saturday morning.

2021 Mugello Moto2 FP1 Result: Roberts Robs Gardner

A sunny Mugello greeted the intermediate class for their first outing of the weekend and it was the same familiar names towards the top of the timesheets. After the lead changed hands a few times, Joe Roberts took over by two tenths of a second, right after his save made it into the highlights reel. Championship leader Remy Gardner got demoted to second, ahead of rival Sam Lowes and closely followed by rookie Raul Fernandez.

Fellow rookie Tony Arbolino joined the top five on home soil, five thousandths of a second faster than Augusto Fernandez and another eight hundredths ahead of Xavi Vierge. Marco Bezzecchi dropped down to eighth place after leading the way early on, ahead of Marcel Schrotter and with Fabio Di Giannantonio rounding out the top ten positions. Aron Canet in 11th spot was the final rider to post a time within a second of the leader, although Hafizh Syahrin and Marcos Ramirez were not too far off. Jorge Navarro started the day at the bottom of the top 20, a second and a half slower than the fastest time of the morning.
