The intermediate class’ final practice session at Motorland Aragon stared with Sam Lowes top of the combined standings following Friday’s sessions and ended with the British rider raising the bar further in the final 13 minutes of FP3 and improving on his own lap record. The Marc VDS rider was six hundredths of a second faster than an impressive Edgar Pons, with another surprise appearance from Marcos Ramirez in third.
Remy Gardner and Hector Garzo completed the top five, only three tenths off top spot, while early leader Augusto Fernandez dropped to sixth spot, marginally ahead of Jorge Martin. Marco Bezzecchi had a decent morning in eighth position, although half a second slower than his title rival and narrowly ahead of Jake Dixon. Enea Bastianini spent most of the session outside of the combined top 14 but joined it when it mattered, securing a top 10 in the session as well. Lorenzo Baldassarri was a late addition to the combined top 14, while some of riders kept their Q2 spots even though they failed to improve on their times from Friday. That was the case for Jorge Navarro, Fabio Di Giannantonio and Joe Roberts, the American having a shortened session after a crash at turn 2 halfway through proceedings.
Meanwhile, Luca Marini did not enjoy his morning in Aragon at all, dropping out of the combined top 14 in the closing stages of FP3 and having to fight it off in Q1 with the likes of Xavi Vierge, Nicolo Bulega or Tom Luthi.
