2020 Teruel World Supersport Race One Result: Yellows In Qualifying Change The Grid

World Supersport lined up for their third fifteen lap race around Motorland Aragon, but Jules Cluzel and Lucas Mahias were penalised places for not slowing for a yellow flag in Superpole as more circumstances landed in favour of Championship leader Andrea Locatelli.

Andrea Locatelli led into the first turn, ahead of Isaac Viñales, Jules Cluzel, Lucas Mahias and Raffaele De Rosa, both Cluzel and Mahias making up for being penalised to the second row. Cluzel took second place off Viñales before the end of the first lap and on the second lap, Locatelli set the fastest lap only to lose it to Cluzel. A lap later, the same happened again, only the lead group lost Isaac Viñales as he crashed from third position.

Raffaele De Rosa, with the MV Agusta getting better as the race goes on, passed Lucas Mahias for third place and, by lap seven, with Locatelli over two seconds clear in the lead, De Rosa latched onto the back of Cluzel. On lap eight, De Rosa and Cluzel charged toward turn two with De Rosa on the inside line, and De Rosa held his line into the turn to take second place. Andrea Locatelli finally took and kept the fastest lap, with a 1'54.382.

Jules Cluzel didn't let Raffaele De Rosa escape and the pair sat just over four seconds from Andrea Locatelli and almost three seconds ahead of Lucas Mahias. The leading trio were the only riders under 1'56 as they increased their lead on lap ten. Back in eighth place, Danny Webb was the only other rider lapping at speeds close to the leading trio, but Locatelli in the lead was close to seven tenths quicker than the riders behind him.

Raffaele De Rosa consolidated his second place, with a two second lead over Jules Cluzel as the podium places settled behind Andrea Locatelli. Philipp Oettl troubled Lucas Mahias over the last few laps, but couldn't pass him before the flag.

Andrea Locatelli equalled the best records of Eugene Laverty and Kenan Sofuoglu with eight wins in a season, keeping the record-setting streak of pole positions, fastest laps and race wins alive, and he extended his championship lead to fifty four points over Jules Cluzel. Raffaele De Rosa's second place pushed him from sixth to fourth place in the championship, just eight points behind Lucas Mahias.
