As the final practice session for the intermediate class got underway, riders were quick to improve before the track melted under the hot sun shining over Jerez. Only a handful of riders failed to improve their times throughout the session, including Friday leader Luca Marini, but much of the Q2 lineup was decided quite early on in FP3. Marcel Schrotter became the fastest man in practice only three laps into his session and less than a tenth of a second ahead of Jorge Martin.
Marco Bezzecchi was the lead Sky rider this time around and was one of the few to improve in the final time attack, sneaking ahead of Tetsuta Nagashima. Marini relied on his Friday benchmark to keep fourth position on combined standings, pushing Nagashima to fifth. Sam Lowes progressed to the top five in the session and sixth overall, with Jorge Navarro having to rely on his FP1 time to stay in seventh spot overall. Aron Canet, Edgar Pons and Enea Bastianini completed the top ten on the combined list, while the final men to go straight to Q2 were Jake Dixon, Hector Garzo, Lorenzo Baldassarri and Remy Gardner.
An interesting battle awaits in Q1 amongst the likes of Xavi Vierge, Tom Luthi, Marcos Ramirez or Fabio Di Giannantonio.
