The intermediate class had to tackle the hottest track conditions yet for their second practice session and while FP1 times were untouchable when it came to the combined top 14, the same familiar names took over the top of the standings. Luca Marini ended both Friday sessions as the fastest man on track, this time about eight tenths of a second slower than in the morning. Marco Bezzecchi limped into second position, little over one tenth behind his teammate and with championship leader Tetsuta Nagashima joining the top three.
Aron Canet made a few steps in the hierarchy to find himself the top Speed Up rider in fourth place but it was nowhere near enough for him to join the provisional Q2 spots. Sam Lowes climbed into the top five for Marc VDS, while Jorge Navarro dropped to sixth, ahead of Marcel Schrotter. Enea Bastianini and Lorenzo Baldassarri joined the top ten, which was once again completed by Hafizh Syahrin.
Tom Luthi and Jorge Martin missed out on the honours once again but both finished half a second off the leader and a couple tenths ahead of Raul Fernandez. Somkiat Chantra, Fabio Di Giannantonio and Joe Roberts had secured a provisional top 14 in FP1 but seemed to struggle a bit more in the second practice session, well out of the top 15.
