2019 Qatar World Superbike Superpole Race Result: The Last Of The Daytime Races

The Qatar weekend's only daytime race is the longest ten lap race, contested in 33ºC heat. Toprak Razgatlioglu pulled into the pits as everyone else lined up on the grid, his race over before the lights went out.

Jonathan Rea led Alex Lowes and Alvaro Bautista through the first sweeping turn, but Leon Haslam got underneath Bautista and pushed him out of third place. Bautista hounded Haslam  and made sure that he was in a good position to power past him at the end of the lap and used his Ducati's straight-line advantage to pass Haslam before the finish line.

Jonathan Rea started the second lap a second clear of Alex Lowes and ended it, after setting a new lap record, two seconds clear of Alvaro Bautista. Bautista passed Lowes cleanly around turns ten and eleven to take second place.

Once Jonathan Rea was two and a half second clear, at the start of lap four, he raced to his pit board and just maintained his lead over Alvaro Bautista accordingly. Alex Lowes couldn't keep up with Bautista and lost a few tenths a lap until Leon Haslam caught him. Chaz Davies caught and passed sixth placed Sandro Cortese on lap four, having started in twelfth place, and started hounding Michael van der Markwho was a second behind Leon Haslam and Alex Lowes.

Chaz Davies held on to Michael van der Mark until he passed him down the straight to open lap seven of ten, but that was as far as he could get as the gap to fourth place was over a second and there weren't enough laps to catch Leon Haslam and Alex Lowes.

Jonathan Rea won comfortably, ahead of Alvaro Bautista. Alex Lowes, under a lot of pressure from Leon Haslam, kept his cool and took third place. Chaz Davies finished in fifth place, over a second behind Leon Haslam, and Michael van der Mark finished sixth after swapping places back and forth with Loris Baz, passing the Ten Kate Yamaha man at the finish line and beating him by six hundredths of a second.

Alex Lowes leads Michael van der Mark in the third place battle by just ten points going
Into the last race, with Toprak Razgatlioglu dropping to twenty four points off Lowes's third place lead.
