2019 Sachsenring MotoE Race Result: A Short First Chapter Written

The first official battle in MotoE took place on a damp drying track and it produced a short burst of electrifying action. Hector Garzo got the holeshot in turn one, forcing poleman Niki Tuuli to find his way back from fifth, while front row starter Eric Granado ended up nearly last after nudges at the start. As the race reached the halfway point of the shortened seven-lap distance, Bradley Smith put his fresh knowledge of the track to good use and led the way ahead of a seven-man lead group, but the battle raged on mostly between Smith, Tuuli, Mike Di Meglio and Garzo. The four men slowly separated themselves from the chasers to dispute the podium amongst them.

The poleman led the way going into the final two laps, when a crash for Lorenzo Savadori punctured the air fence and prompted a red flag. The result was declared after five laps, with Tuuli becoming MotoE’s first winner, ahead of Smith and Di Meglio.
