2018 Buriram MotoGP FP1 Result: Viñales And Rossi Take Yamaha One-Two

After a dismal season so far, the Movistar Yamaha team got the Thai round of MotoGP off to a strong start by topping the timesheets, with Maverick Viñales leading Valentino Rossi by over a quarter of a second. With Monster Tech3 Yamaha's Johann Zarco taking sixth, it may seem like something of a turnaround for Yamaha, but the three Yamaha riders all used a soft tire to set their fast times at the end of the session, while the others around them stuck with the medium rears.

Andrea Dovizioso led Jack Miller to take third, the factory rider just a thousandth of a second faster than the Pramac Ducati man. Marc Marquez took sixth, focusing on race pace and doing multiple 1'31 laps on a used medium rear. Andrea Iannone took fastest Suzuki in seveth place, while Takaaki Nakagami impressed with the eighth fastest time.

Lorenzo had a big one at the end of the long straight, entry to turn 3. The back end came around & spat him off on the way into 3. Very fast !!! Lots of debris on the track. Then another rider crashed before the red flag came out.

JL99 has a sore right foot, among other things I expect.
