2018 Assen Moto2 FP3 Result: A Practice Hat-Trick For Bagnaia

The last practice session before the serious business starts kicked off with a real surprise from our favourite temperamental rookie Romano Fenati, who immediately posted the best time of the weekend to lead the early part of the session by over three tenths of a second. The Italian’s time stood until the final three minutes, when the championship leader snuck ahead just about. Pecco Bagnaia completed the practice hat-trick by taking another headline, seven hundredths of a second ahead of Fenati.

Jorge Navarro joined the top three but three tenths back, while Sam Lowes’ final flying lap helped him climb into fourth. Mattia Pasini stayed consistently into the top five, only one thousandth of a second ahead of Alex Marquez, why had quite a low key session. Marcel Schrotter was another familiar face in seventh position, with the usual crowd of Lorenzo Baldassarri, Andrea Locatelli and Fabio Quartararo completing the top ten, less than half a second off Bagnaia.

The likes of Simone Corsi, Danny Kent and Xavi Vierge missed out on a top ten position by about a tenth of a second, while Joan Mir went a bit anonymous down in 14th after a fairly impressive Friday. Meanwhile, Miguel Oliveira had another of those odd sessions down in 19h position, although still within a second of the leader.
