2018 Valencia February Moto2 Test Thursday Times: Pasini Bests Baldassarri

Mattia Pasini has finished the final day of the Moto2 test at Valencia on top of the pack, the Italian heading the second session of the day to take top spot. Pasini ended just ahead of Lorenzo Baldassarri, who had been fastest on Wednesday and topped two of Thursday's three sessions. Simone Corsi finished as third quickest, making it an all-Italian, all-Kalex clean sweep.

Miguel Oliveira was the first non-Kalex, the Portuguese rider ending the day in fourth just over a third of a second behind Pasini. KTM teammate Brad Binder ended way down in tenth, just behind Romano Fenati, who is getting his Moto2 career off to a solid start. Fabio Quartararo was the quickest of the Speed Up bikes, in eleventh behind Binder, while Bo Bendsneyder made a good start to his Moto2 rookie season ending just behind Quartararo on the Tech 3 bike. American Joe Roberts put Moto2 newcomer NTS into thirteenth, 1.1 seconds slower than Pasini.

Dutch team from CEV w a three-year deal, riders will be South African Steven Odendaal, the current European Moto2 Champion (did wild cards on this bike last yr) and American Joe Roberts, who was with the AGR Team.

"NTS is a Fukushima-based precise metal process proto-typing company serving in aerospace, high-end motorsports, marine and medical industries, and will be supplying RW Racing with Moto2™ chassis designed and produced fully inhouse by NTS - developed from scratch. In collaboration with engineering specialist Geo Technology, headquartered in Switzerland."

Nice to see how many different bikes are in Moto2 now. And the big shake up approaches - the Triumph 765cc Triple is there for anyone to begin development with. Narrower, more power, LOTS more torque. Interesting times are nearly afoot. Here is a Swiss chassis designer pairing with a Japanese cutting edge fabricator. Made in Fukishima, so it may glow when the garage door is closed which could be fun. A rider may leave this seat with lots of balls...like three monster energy colored ones.
