2018 Sepang MotoGP Test Sunday Times: Pedrosa Tops Busy Day Of Testing

Dani Pedrosa topped what ended up being a full day of testing at Sepang. After a damp start to the day, the track dried out around 1pm and conditions improved after that. The riders took full advantage of the good conditions to ride until the end of the day, racking up the laps.

The lead swapped several times throughout the day, but the last thirty minutes of the test saw riders stick in soft tires and push for a quick lap time. Dani Pedrosa came out on top of that final charge, getting within four tenths of his own outright pole record. The factory Ducati riders joined Pedrosa in the 1'59s, Andrea Dovizioso finishing just ahead of Jorge Lorenzo, while Danilo Petrucci put the third Ducati GP18, in Alma Pramac colors, into fourth spot.

Jack Miller took fifth, making it four Ducatis in the top five, and ending just ahead of Valentino Rossi on the Movistar Yamaha. Rossi was leading the session when he stopped shortly after 5pm, and only riders who used soft tires to push for a quick time finished ahead of him. Marc Marquez another rider who hadn't pushed for a quick lap, was seventh quickest on the Repsol Honda, while Johann Zarco put the 2017 Yamaha M1 into eighth. Cal Crutchlow ended the session in ninth on the LCR Honda, finishing just ahead of Pol Espargaro on the KTM in tenth.
