2017 Valencia Moto2 FP3 Result: Morbidelli Finds Some Speed

A usual sunny Saturday in Valencia, a usual configuration at the business end of the session. Already crowned world champion Franco Morbidelli set camp at the top of the timesheets at the start of the session and did not let the place go until the checker flag waved. After an average Friday by his own standards, the Italian picked up six tenths of a second overnight to post the best time of the weekend.

Miguel Oliveira improved his best time by a couple of tenths to get close to his Italian rival but those last three hundredths of a second proved too far and the KTM rider settled for second.

Once Alex Marquez put Kalex testing to the side, the Spaniard found some more speed to go third, a tenth behind his teammate. The Estrella Galicia 0,0 and Red Bull KTM battle continued with Brad Binder slotting into fourth place, two tenths adrift of Morbidelli.

The best of the rest was Dominique Aegerter, the Swiss rider only two hundredths of a second behind Binder and a mere three thousandths of a second ahead of Mattia Pasini in sixth. Ricky Cardus improved on an already impressive Friday performance with a seventh place in FP3, under three tenths slower than the reigning world champion.

Marcel Schrotter ended up eighth, a thousandth of a second behind Cardus and two hundredths ahead of Pecco Bagnaia. The top ten, covered by less than four tenths of a second, was completed by Hafizh Syahrin, with the top twenty-seven riders covered by one second.
