This morning’s damp track sorted itself out by the time the intermediate class got its turn at FP3, Alex Marquez taking no time to beat his own Friday benchmark by half a second. That early time proved unbeatable, the Spaniard showing consistently good pace at the British track.
Teammate Franco Morbidelli also posted his fastest time of the morning on only his fourth lap, getting as close as three tenths of a second of the leader and keeping close to his Marc VDS colleague’s rhythm.
Mattia Pasini finished the session third, over half a second slower than Marquez, with Tom Luthi fourth, eight tenths down on the leader. Lorenzo Baldassarri made yet another step forward to post the fifth fastest time of the morning, his achievement slightly overshadowed by Remy Gardner popping up in sixth place.
Miguel Oliveira could not replicate Friday’s pace and did not manage to improve on his FP2 time, the Portuguese rider down in seventh position and the final rider within a second of the leader. Takaaki Nakagami, Simone Corsi and Isaac Viñales completed the top ten.
Xavi Vierge only just missed out on a top position, with Pecco Bagnaia progressing slightly into twelfth and managing to anger Marquez in the process. Jorge Navarro remained thirteenth despite a fast yet injury-free crash. FP1 leader Dominique Aegerter had a tough morning, finishing down in sixteenth place.
