Those gaps are almost surreal! 3rd at 0.9, 5th at 1.6 seconds, blimey. Are the Ducatis and Kawasakis really this much faster than the rest, or did they just get their set-up right much quicker..? Have they done extra testing at Imola?

Of course I hope Yamaha and Aprilia can catch up a bit before the races start (at Honda they can only hope this time there's no water leakage, electronics failures, cracking frames, brake problems or throttle issues, so at least they stay safe), but it's also mighty impressive to see this display of speed by the front runners. There has to be a favorite that everybody wants to beat, right? Anyway, you never know in racing. Especially in the World Superbike Championship we've seen turnarounds during the season a couple of times. Bayliss vs Edwards and Haga vs Spies spring to mind, and to a lesser extent Sykes vs Guintoli. As long as Davies can keep pressuring Rea, and Sykes and Melandri stay in touch, who knows. And I still have hope Van der Mark and/or Laverty can make a breakthrough at some point this year.
