Sylvain Guintoli just 2,6 seconds off the fastest time, that seems like a pretty decent lap time for the first half day on a MotoGP bike that is not even one of the best at the moment! It's a long time ago he rode MotoGP, he's new to the Michelins, new to the bike, and the oldest rider after Rossi I guess. I'm curious to see what progress he can make tomorrow. Looking forward to Le Mans! Great to see another former Superbike world champion have a go in MotoGP again.

So Vinales, Marquez and Pedrosa just edged under Lorenzo'ws two-year-old lap record (1m 38.735s) and Espargaro, A. on the Aprilia was just a couple of tenths outside it.  One would have to say on this evidence, the Aprilia has made the most progress.  However, was Espargaro's time a one-off on super stickies, or was he lapping around that mark at other times during the day?

Lowes:  in the immortal words of the late Barry Sheene:  "he couldn't develop a good cold."

A.Espargaro and Aprilia!
(WHOOSH)
Btw, hopped on an RSV4 for the first time yesterday. The bike is really compact. That motor is a BEAST.
