Marc Marquez has finished the final session of free practice as fastest, the Repsol Honda rider leading an eventful session throughout. Dani Pedrosa ended as second quickest, though Pedrosa then immediately crashed in Turn 1 after setting his best time. Pedrosa was not the only faller: Sam Lowes also crashed in the same spot.
Pedrosa and Lowes were not the only riders left stranded however: Aleix Espargaro found himself stopped at trackside with a mysterious technical issue, which left him furious. But he was not as unlucky as Andrea Dovizioso. The factory Ducati rider had a technical problem with his first bike, quickly got back to the pits to jump aboard his second bike, which then promptly also stopped.
Maverick Viñales ended the session in third, over half a second off the pace of Marquez, and half a second ahead of another brace of Hondas in fourth and fifth, Jack Miller just ahead of Cal Crutchlow. Johann Zarco ended in sixth, while Andrea Dovizioso finished in seventh, despite his technical issues.
