Casey Stoner remained fastest at the end of the first day of testing at Sepang. Times were unchanged from 4pm, when the rain came. A few riders went out in the rain to try the bike in the wet, but they had no impact on the timesheets.

Stoner
Thats really going to make the other riders take notice!
Early days...
Can't read too much into the first day's results - or even any of the test results prior to commencement of the actual race season, as history shows.
But it is way cool to see Casey at the top of the timesheets :)
Solid effort from Pol
Solid effort from Pol Espargaro there in 16th on the KTM, 1.6s off the fastest time and ahead of Lorenzo! Bradley still seems to be quite some way off the pace, is his knee still limiting his efforts?
Topsy Turvy start to 2017
Marquez,Rossi,Lorenzo over a second off a test rider's quickest lap. I don't read too much into anything right now, but Folger was impressive as was Bautista and Pol Espargaro.Weather permitting, I reckon Lorenzo will chip away and as ever arrive pretty much up there come Wednesday evening. Lorenzo is I believe trying to bond with Michelin DNA rather than the bike. Huge disparities between Aprilia and KTM works riders Lowes/Espargaro and Smith/P. Espargaro.
Crutchlow quickest Honda. by a good bunch of yards. Jack Miller? Behind Karel Abraham.Time will tell but its already all out there. Oh yes, that Dovi bloke we have come to love as a true sportsman will hopefully get a little selfish and put his aspirations on at least the same level as the teams he has served for, for once in his career. Vinales and Crazy Joe? Comparable machinery, transverse fours and both enjoying it. Day one and Honda look like they sure miss CS27. Then again their philosophy has always been bike first, rider, incidental.
Early days, but I've followed GP for so long as to know that test trends usually carry the velocity into the season as of day one.
CS27 mind games begin
Way to go CS27
Good way to mess with some MotoGP champions mindset.....not they all are praying he never makes a return to active racing, haha. All current riders can only "quip"...
On a side note: Was he running soft tires? Even if he did, still heck of a lap time considering he hasn't been riding any motorGP bike much last year.
