2017 Portimao WSBK Test Day 2 Times: Davies Leads Aprilias, Haslam

Chaz Davies has ended the Portimao WorldSBK test on top of the timesheets, the factory Ducati rider quickest on both days of the test. Behind Davies, the field got an interesting shake up, with the Milwaukee Aprilias making a big step forward. After a tough couple of tests, Eugene Laverty made a major step forward with the RSV4, managing a quick pace on both race and qualifying tires. Teammate Lorenzo Savadori was third, just a fraction behind his teammate.

Leon Haslam impressed, standing in for the injured Randy Krummenacher. Haslam, who will race in BSB in 2017, set the fourth quickest time and was fast throughout the test. Leon Camier was fifth on the MV Agusta, ahead of the Yamahas of Alex Lowes and Michael van der Mark. PJ Jacobsen was the fastest World Supersport rider, while BSB was represented by Shane Byrne and Glen Irwin on the Ducati.

What was Miguel Oliveira doing out there on a Yamaha?  He's contracted to ride the KTM moto2 bike this year.

Last year, Oliveira did the 8 Hour race at Portimao. He is intending to do the same again this year. That's why he is using the opportunity to go testing now.

Thanks.  That makes sense as far as why he was there at all.  I still find it strange that a KTM contracted factory rider is doing laps at a sanctioned test on a Yamaha.
