GP17 Hot Laps coming Tomorrow
The list says JL99 was on the GP17, but he actually rode all day on the GP16 with the exception of one final slow shakedown lap on the GP17 to make sure it's ready for tomorrow. I think Dovizioso may have done the same. Pirro may have been the only rider going full speed on GP17.
Very interesting results already for the riders on new machinery.
Tomorrow could be even more interesting, dependent on the GP17 performance.
I'm ready for Qatar.
I stand corrected
....from my previous post :
Maverick rocks!
Scary
Everybody should be afraid, after only 1 day on the Ducati Jorge is within a tenth of a second to the front runner.
Petrucci
I'm not a Redding fan at all. But he's in 8th with a 31.2 - that's under his qualifying lap of 31.4 on the first day, and extremely close to Petrucci's Q2 time. That's got to put some pressure on Petrucci since he will have the GP17 and is missing this test.
Honda yamaha ducati
MV very quick jl impressive and honda bigbang engine but i think there is more i have the idea honda has a desmo system also. If u compare the sound between yam and duc you can hear the ducati has a zzzzz sound in the engine (if you know what i mean :-) ) and i thought to hear the same on the honda although a little less then on the duc. You dont hear that sounds on the yam or suz.
Stoked to see Lorenzo
Stoked to see Lorenzo competitive on the winglet spec 16 model.
No Petrucci?
Was he not testing today? Not enough GP17s to go around? Or did I miss somthing? Was really interested to see how Redding did vs him
Petrucci
Petrucci was absent because he had to return to Italy because of a family matter.
Congratulations Fans!
This gave us all types of things to speculate on for the next few months!
Petrucci. any info on why misssed his new ride he fought so hard to earn?
Swapped circumstances
It's inevitable that people will compare he opposite situation of Valencia first day 2010, with Lorenzo on the M1 top of the sheet and Rossi swapping to the Duc 1.8 seconds slower (and not the fastest Ducati, either).
I wonder who is the more relieved: Lorenzo, or Duc management?
wings or not wings
Hi David,
Firstly thanks for a great year of Moto Matters. I'll be signing up again real soon for 2017
My question is this, in the morning testing VR set his time with a full winged 16 Yam on soft tyres while MV was usuing a NON winged Yam (& I think on the harder tyres). Can you tell us the bike convigoration of the Yams for the afternoon tests as I missed the coverage ... too late here in Australia ... I'm super inmpressed with how MV, JL, & AI did today on there new steeds. thanks again
Lorenzo.
Lorenzo.
He's doing it.
I expected to see him a full second slower, and to call that solid work. I told myself not to read much into it if he was slow. Uhm....I think we OUGHT to read into this performance right away on the Ducati. I already anticipate that he could win at Qatar. Iannone and Vinales too, wow!
Tues did not disappoint.
A lap with some slow motion - Lorenzo getting his fast lap, zero movement under him for a Duc on rails.

Lorenzo and Vinales
Both look incredible on their new machines. That they look so comfortable already is scary for the rest.
Lorenzo looks made for the Duc. It's stable enough that he can maintain his famous corner speed but then has all that extra grunt down the straight.
a blessing and a curse for Lorenzo to test at Valencia
he owns that track so if the Ducati even half suits him he should be quick, the problems will be on tracks (and conditions of course) that don't suit him. Mind you I'm sure he and the whole ducati team will be all to aware of that and working out how to maximise the testing time he has available to him down to the minute.
I'm guessing those who predicted Rossi would start to hassle his new team mate once he becomes competitive are now expecting that Vinales will have to watch his back. Personally I'm not convinced that a Rossi and Vinales clash is inevitable. MV was quick and I think it was a great warning shot to one and all - watch out.
