2016 Phillip Island MotoGP and Moto2 FP2: CANCELLED Due To Heavy Rain

The rain that limited Moto3's second practice worsened and forced the cancellation of both MotoGP's and Moto2's FP2. The weather -- heavy rains, windy and cold -- is expected to improve slightly for Saturday's practice and qualifying sessions. As it stands now, Cal Crutchlow, Danilo Petrucci and Jack Miller are the top qualifying times based on FP1. Race direction will post a revised Saturday schedule within hours so check back with motomatters.com for updates.

What happened to Rossi's fast lap from FP1?

He's now at the bottom of the official time sheets.

Rossi had an 11-lap run disqualified for exceeding Michelin's 10-lap limit for the super soft rain tire. Rossi thought he'd only done 9, but the out and in laps were counted against him. The whole situation seems a bit daft, but there you have it.

I have no idea who's to blame, and in the big scheme of things it's not a huge deal, but this seems to be another axample of either poor communication or poor attention to details.   I don't know how at the pinnacle of motorcycle sport such elementary mistakes like this keep happening.  Again thought, it's not like this will affect race outcome or anything (well, that assumes Rossi will have the opportunity in FP3 to qualify properly for Qualifying).

thanks for clearing that up, was wondering what happened. Skipping through the FP-feeds on MotoGP.com I picked up something, but didn't have the time to rewind :)

I do think these teams have quite some "details" to keep track off, so don't blame 'em, but hope it does not have a bigger impact on Vale's raceday :)
