2016 Sepang World Superbike FP2 Results: Savadori Shakes Things Up

With the second session universally quicker than this morning's, Superpole qualifying was determined in this free practice. Lorenzo Savadori, 2015 Superstock 1000 champion, was the first and only rider under 2'04 this weekend so far. Nicky Hayden continued his quick pace while Markus Reiterberger also carrying his good from from the morning. Rain made an unwelcome appearance halfway through the session but didn't make much of an impact on the session.

Tom Sykes, eleventh quickest, did not qualify for Superpole two and will be the favourite to qualify for promotion in Superpole one, alongside Alex De Angelis.

I'm really impressed about Ant West's showing on the Pedercini bike, just ahead of two factory Kawasakis.  Looking forward to the Superpole and the races to see what he can achieve there.

Also Savadori as the quickest one after FP2? Wow!

Another guest appearance for West and talk of rain, the meeting of the two always makes things interesting.

That's great, to see Lorenzo Savadori on top! The Aprilia RSV4 always does well at Sepang, but this is a step up for rookie Savadori and the Ioda team of course! This could get interesting in the races.

Also great to see Nicky Hayden up there. I wonder if he can make that Honda go fast over race distance, but he sure is progressing. I'd love to see him do well, which would also be good for the series, I'd say. But I can't help thinking how he might have done on an Aprilia, which seemed a real possibility last year... That would have been awesome, I think. If Honda again does not come up with a new bike next year, I really hope he'll move on to better machinery. Looking at Biaggi, Hayden can still have quite a few good years in him.

... for the first two practice sessions definitely bodes well for Nicky this weekend, and if I'm not mistaken I believe the assurance that Honda was releasing a brand-new bike for 2017 was the ultimate deciding factor for him to move to Ten Kate/WSB.

Worth mentioning... he's the fastest Kawasaki, ahead of 2 world champs. Not bad for the first time on the bike?
