2016 Austin Moto3 Race: The Sky Clears Out

Romano Fenati took his first victory of the year with a dominant race Sunday at the Circuit of the Americas track near Austin, Texas. The Sky Racing Team VR46 rider ended the contest with a 6.6 second lead on second-place finisher Jorge Navarro.

Navarro, who led the race early, finished a lonely second. His championship rival, Brad Binder, took third after a last-lap pass on pole-sitter Philip Oettl. The German rider held on for fourth. The top-three finishes changes the order of the championship standings with Brad Binder now in the lead, three points in front of Navarro. Race-winner Fenati climbed into third.

Andrea Locatelli won a race-long battle to claim fifth in front of Enea Bastianini (6th). Rookie Aron Canet made up for crashing out of last week's Argentina race and a 22nd grid position at the COTA to climb through the pack and take seventh. Livio Loi (8th) finished just in front of Jules Danilo (9th) who had his best finish of 2016. Nicolo Bulega completed the top 10.
