2016 Austin Moto2 FP3 Result: Lowes Top In Mixed Conditions

Sam Lowes topped the  Moto2 timesheet in mixed conditions at the COTA Saturday's FP3, an interrupted session that required riders to pit and switch to rain tires. Lowes was the only rider to manage a dip into the 2'09s before rain started falling -- his time still well off Alex Rins' mark from FP2.

After the switch to rain tires, riders returned to a difficult, slippery track that prompted an handful of minor crashes, including one by Johann Zarco who is second in the championship. Some riders, Lowes included, didn't spent much time out on the track after the rain and instead chose to wait for qualifying to see if conditions might improve. The Texas track had begun to dry again by the end of the session.
