Results and summary of the Moto2 race at Sepang:
Johann Zarco has taken his eighth win of the season with a masterful display of poise and patience, waiting until the last lap to dispose of Tom Luthi.
Luthi had looked like dominating the race as he had dominated practice, getting the holeshot off the line and leading into the first corner. From the very start, Johann Zarco was the only man who could follow him. In the middle of the race, Luthi started to push to try and open a gap, but he never could make enough of a gap to drop Zarco. As the laps ticked off, Zarco started looking stronger, getting onto Luthis tail as they started the last lap, then attacking through the first corner. Luthi and Zarco went back and forth for the first half of the lap, but by the time they approached the long rights of turns 13 and 14, Zarco was in control. The Frenchman went on to take yet another victory to cap a truly dominant season, with Luthi forced to settle for 2nd.
The battle for 3rd looked like being a tense affair, with Alex Rins catching Jonas Folger and trying to push to bridge the gap to the leaders. Rins faltered in the attempt, crashing out at Turn 9 shortly after the halfway mark, leaving Folger to take a lonely 3rd. Takaaki Nakagami took a very creditable 4th place, ahead of Lorenzo Baldassarri, while local boy Hafizh Syahrin crossed the line in 8th, to the delight of the crowd.
