Qatar 2 MotoGP Test Wednesday Final Times: Miller Smashes Lap Record
Submitted by David Emmett on
Lap records are tumbling at the end of the first day of the second Qatar test. After Fabio Quartararo smashed Marc Marquez' outright lap record of 1'53.380 by over a tenth of a second, Jack Miller took another eight hundredths off that, going just shy of two tenths faster than Marquez did during the race weekend in 2019. It is a testament to the much improved conditions.
Miller and the factory Ducati lead, ahead of the Monster Energy Yamaha pairing of Fabio Quartararo and Maverick Viñales, though Viñales is a third of a second slower than Jack Miller. Johann Zarco put the Pramac Ducati into fourth place, with the exact same time as Pol Espargaro on the Repsol Honda.
Aleix Espargaro ended the in sixth on the Aprilia, just ahead of the Suzuki pairing of Joan Mir and Alex Rins. Rins was the last rider to get within a second of Jack Miller. Pecco Bagnaia was ninth quickest on the first day, just over a second slower than his factory Ducati teammate, and just ahead of Franco Morbidelli on the Petronas Yamaha.
Testing resumes on Thursday, and finishes on Friday.
