2015 MotoGP Sepang 1 Test Times - Final: Marquez Tops Day 1 With Last-Ditch Fast Lap

Marc Marquez finished the day at the top of the timesheets, after pushing hard at the end with a new tire. That put Marquez ahead of the two Movistar Yamaha riders, both of whom proclaimed themselves happy with how competitive they were, not having used a new tire for a fast lap. Andrea Dovizioso was similarly happy, ending very close to the top 3, and ahead of Dani Pedrosa on the second Repsol Honda.

Interesting that MM seemingly couldn't get to the top of the time sheets without a fresh tire, and even then, not by much. It's encouraging to see Rossi focus on getting the max out of a used tire. Rossi and Lorenzo are both very positive about their bikes. Can't wait to see how the seamless downshift affects the scenario.

Only 0.1s off Nicky Hayden for fastest RS. Will be interesting to see how that goes by the end of this test, and the next. Also, how fast the RS generally ends up being, because 2.5s is pretty disappointing. I suppose this just highlights how much speed is in the fancy pants electronics these days. 2016 might be marginally better from that perspective at least.
