2014 Barcelona Moto2 Race Result: There's No Place Like Home

Results Below:

Tito Rabat won his fourth race of the season with a wire-to-wire victory Sunday at the Catalunya circuit in Spain. The championship points leader won his home race and finished four seconds ahead of Maverick Vinales who hung on Rabat's tail early in the race but was dropped to a distant second with 10 laps to go. Johan Zarco gave the new Caterham team its first-ever podium with third place after a last-lap battle with Mika Kallio (4th) and Thomas Luthi (5th).

Mattia Pasini finished a lonely sixth, his best result of the year. Ricard Cardus grabbed seventh. Axel Pons, Marcel Schrotter and Ant West completed the top ten.

The race was crash-fest throughout with nine riders not finishing, including Luis Salom, Jonas Folger and Sandro Cortese. Jordi Torres high-sided with seven laps to go, his bike coliding with Dominique Aegerter and forcing the Swiss rider off the track. Aegerter rejoined the race in eighth but ran wide on the same corner the following lap to eventually finish 14th.

Torres reclaimed his highside...

Thanks for the suggestion. Story is fixed -- but not enough to improve Aegerter's mood ;)

Jonas Folger

Heroic, brilliant manoeuver by Folger to avoid the sliding Luis Salom after he high-sided, which caused the German to end up in the gravel. Hope the Spaniard buys him a beer - or maybe a meal at the finest restaurant in Barcelona - after he watches the replay. It could have been a lot worse than the wrist he was clutching.
