Marc Marquez overran the timesheet territory he had briefly loaned to Jorge Jorenzo with a blistering fast lap of 1'39.313 at the second free practice Friday in Argentina. Marquez was a full second faster than the second-place rider teammate Dani Pedrosa and became the only rider to dip into the 1'39s -- a pace he did for three straight laps toward the end of the day's final session. Aleix Espargaro on his open class Yamaha managed third, 1.2 seconds slower than Marquez.
Equally worrisome for his rivals, Marquez was fastest in each of the 4.8 km (2.986 mi.) circuit's four timing sectors.
So much for the FP1 notion that Rio Hondo appears to be a Yamaha track. And so much for Jorge Lorenzo's place at the top of Friday's timesheet. In FP1, Lorenzo dominated the first session and was the top of five Yamahas placed within the top 10. And while five Yamahas remain in the top 10 after FP2, they've been rearranged a bit lower following the showing of Marquez and Pedrosa.
Indeed further down the timesheet, only Stefan Bradl (4th), Andrea Dovizioso (5th) and Bradley Smith (6th) remain within two seconds of Marquez. Pol Espargaro, Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, at seventh, eight and ninth respectively, sit more than two seconds off the pace.

Marquez
Decimation.
Seat swap
Lorenzo to Honda, Pedrosa to Yamaha is looking more likely with every race. Rossi is probably safe but I'd prefer to see the elder Espargaro on that bike. Bradl, Bautista are disappointing not sure when their contracts expire but Redding is doing enough to earn a shot on one those bikes. The domination of Marquez is going to force a clean out of the dead wood.
AE41
I'm still impressed with Aleix, but FP4 will tell the story.
Aleix's time is impressive...
But if you want to see the where the story will happen first, it's likely to be FP3 as that will determine the lineups for Q1 and Q2. Once FP4 rolls around, everyone is working on race setup -- although that too can give an indication of actual race pace.
Title
I will suggest to change the title to "2014 Argentina MotoGP Marquez Free Practice #2 Result"
It's simply a play on Tierra Del Fuego...
which, along with Marquez, is another impressive tourist attraction currently in Argentina.
Spectacular....
What jorge did in fp1 marc returned it with extreme honesty in fp2, maybe jorge was busy in set ups and didn't tried a fast lap just like marc in fp 1. Well it's just a matter of a few hrs before we get to know who's knees are more deep in water. Qualifying is what will demonstrate....!!
Is the title of the post a
Is the title of the post a clever word play or a bad translation?
Both!
Well it does translate to "Land of Marquez," which, I'm told, is smaller than Lorenzo Land but with higher property values.
¡Muy bueno!
¡Muy bueno!
Ya gotta wonder
what's going on inside Lorenzo's head.
He was unrecognizable in Texas.

P9 in FP2 can't help... :(
Thanks
Thanks for the video link. There was some controversy about the video you posted and it was pulled/removed by Dorna from the MotoGP site. I believe Yamaha were not to pleased with the light the video painted Jorge and protested. I hadn't seen the video before it was removed and after seeing it I can understand Yamaha's displeasure with it.

Isn't that a shame. Saw that
Isn't that a shame. Saw that video when it was first put up on the MotoGP Youtube page. Quite refreshing to see something other than the usual sycophantic drivel that comes from Dorna TV. What does Yamaha (or indeed Lorenzo's minders) really have to loose from a bit of good humoured satire. Note that I saw it on the MotoGP youtube feed, not the pay for view MotoGP service. Want to recapture lapsed subscribers? That not the way to do it, Dorna.
Foolish
We would be as foolish to place a bet based on FP2 (It's a Honda track !) as we would based on FP1 (It's a Yamaha track !). All we can say with any certainty is that, barring injury, it's a Marquez track.
After QP when everyone has stopped learning the track, choosing tires and adjusting settings is when I'll be putting my money down...probably on Marquez.
I anticipate predicting the right order from 4th to 10th to be the tricky part.
Honda Track
Disagree.
First, let's not assume that is a "[place brand here] Track" without having race there first.
Second, the difference may lie in the rider. Remove MM93 from the equation and it could become a Yamaha track.
Can we just stop with the "Honda track" vs "Yamaha track"?
Seriously, there's nothing to be gleaned at this point in assuming a track favors one make over the other... :)
Done and Dusted
Done and dusted chaps for at least 5 more years. Unless Vinales is a miracle waiting to happen MM will dominate with a capital D.
Even if JLo is moving to HRC it will be even more painfully clear that he is no match as none of the current riders are.
Time to get a new hobby ;-)
Ohh yeahh....??
We'll see, he's not a god. If jorge can fight with him on board a yamaha he can defeat him with ease on a honda. If marc was on an lcr honda or even on a gresini, then we would've known who's got more guts. Everyone knows that the REPSOL HONDA RC213V is cooked up steak, you just need to eat rather than worrying how to cook. At the same time i won't put down marc's hunger which is burning inside with more intensity race after race. Bosss..... betrayal is in time's nature..!!
Yeah
Lorenzo being in GP for quite some years while Marquez is strolling in just now and getting better by the race and season. So uhmm........... Yeah
Cooked up steak is exactly what DP is eating also. No wonders there as expected. I do rate JLo higher than DP but not even close to MM. So it is not just the RCV.
Time will tell, hope you are right bunny ,for your sake, but I highly doubt it.
Cheerio
JL is Cooked up steak..
DP rates lower than JL so he is burnt steak, how do you rate Rossi in comparison to MM then?
Cruisin
Rossi is also done and dusted. Maybe a victory here or there, maybe one or two years more in GP. Considering his career and the prospect of MM, I would rate them all as follows:
1.Marquez
2.Rossi
3.Lorenzo
4.Pedrosa
Stoner on 3 if you like to count him in as well.
So silly...
Atleast your opinions should be based on facts. Bro please revise your statistics. Marquez, rossi and what ?? ....stoner in third. You make me laugh ...when it comes to skill stoner is mm's dad........ If mm is amazingly skilled cs 27 wuz divinely gifted. And regarding #46, all that i can say is when marc has 9 world titles to his name then we can discuss who's first and last.
#99 vs #93 ....lets see guys....BATTLE IS ON..
Well well well
So we will give MM another couple of races to clinch his second title in MOTOGP, which will equal CS' statistics in that respect at least and outperform him in every other respect, then your happy?
There is no battle BRO, it is a parade.
They are indeed opinions as are your statements.
My expectations are that MM will get those 9 titles. JL won't. And CS will never return so wont either. So there are your statistics.
Please try to lighten up it's just racing not soccer.
Soothsayer.....
Carry on.........if u think he can win 9 titles and outperform cs#27 in every way then maybe you are the one who's writing the script of motogp. I can't say anything to you bcoz u knw everythng...
And i dont get it where my words let u think that its soccer. Therefore i hope your words prove out true in the racing world. Can we all know how many titles esP and JL can win...??. You are the only 1 who can answer that..:-)
Right statistics
I merely played by your rules telling you how the stats would line up in MMs favour pretty soon (the do allready but hey).
Your glass ball is telling you that MM is toast once JL gets the RCV of DP. So where does that leave you?
Again, only expectations and opinions so don't get your panties in a bind. All the best, bye know.
Humorous..
I enjoyed your comments.Nothing to say ...except this. My glass ball isn't telling me anythng and u are the 1 who predicts or to be more precise describes the future. .(Maybe after seeing it on your future showing computer). So if u are frustrated please show dat to some1 else coz it wuz you who started pointless statements about any x y z person.
Well what's done is done. Just relax why.............so ..........serious. I know your words will come true...'-)
I know your words will come true...'-)
I do too. Have fun watching the field getting decimated again unfortunately.
Of course....
Ohh u dont worry i will....... Maybe even celebrate... Hahaha
Tyres, again...
Seems the Argentina track is more abrasive than Bridgestone anticipated, yet again, so tyre conservation will be key. Yet again.
Is it just me, or should there be more to racecraft than nursing a set of cooked slicks from lap 5 onwards?
Oh all right, it's just me. Wouldn't mind a race where that's not the major issue, though.
No, it's not just you
I propose we call it the "Bridgestone Conservation Cup" until further notice....
tire consumption is a key factor
According to Ben Spies' co-commenting in Austin, tire consumption is rather important to having an exciting race.
He said he would wish for the tires to be even worse, performance-wise. Well, and in a predictable fashion, that is. Nobody wants to see the tires being shred into pieces and riders crashing.
HOWEVER, if tire conservation tactics would be totally unnecessary, it would only be about the bike/riding-style/setup that can take the tires to their maximum performance. Nothing to gain in tactics. No surprises happening. Dovis podium in Austin would have been impossible. It would be even more boring than it is at the moment.
Although I want to make clear that it is a delight to see Marquez riding, it would be him and three factory bikes fighting for the remaining podium steps.
Maybe with Bradl, Smith and one of the Ducs disturbing the quartet once in a while.
Head Games
Very Doohan like! I believe Marc is playing head games with his main competition. Crush them mentally, making them.......doubt! Interesting!
Testing..
Yahmaha just out if phase with Honda who started looking for pace at time yahaha were searching for somthing else. No need to look too much into it. First day new track, its like testing, not easily comparable.
Maybe there's one more side...
Haha .....as expected q..moto. I dont have to tell you there's #46 who's got the same, still to be cooked m1. Can he match #99 ??. Rarely ........same is wit DP and MM. Its Repsol RC213V and dats it. Just what it needs is talent and MM is that talent .
But that doesn't mean others are fooling around. Once jorge gets settled he can make any1 eat the dust, currently the scenario is telling something else but change will happen sooner rather than later. Well...we'l see for ourselves tomorrow ......!!
Haha??
Exactly my point MM has the majority of the talent.
No need to convince me of your blind adoration of 99 ;-)
Let's get the tire thing straight
The track is dirty and dusty, which prompts spinning, which heats and eats tires. That's not on Bridgestone, that's on the track owners. It's clearing up and should hopefully be OK for race day.
Honda in MotoGp or Mercedes in F1
Im not saying it will be a total snooze...but i'm not sure which will be less exciting to watch this year. Actually, if you only care about seeing the best "fight" to win...which i do...I don't know what the incentive (if any) there is to watch either motogp or F1 this year live.
Past 4 rounds in F1 and past 2 in GP have been an excercise in reading the internet monday to see how much AMG mercedes crushed the field (because of power advantage) and how much marquez killed it (because of power). Its almost fruitless at this point to think abiut anyone other than those two winning respective titles...inless your the type that hopes marquez chokes on a chicken bone or breaks a collarbone like lorenzo last year.
I just don't get
all this talk of Marquez being some sort of demi-god "who's gonna win the next 5 championships", "it's a snooze-fest", "he's untouchable" blah blah type talk. Seriously, I thought I had the memory of goldfish but some on here have got me well and truly licked for short term memory loss.
Wasn't it only the race before last when a washed up ol' has been nearly handed the young demi-god his leather clad rear end, coming within 0.3s of doing so? I'm no Rossi fan-boi but if the ol' charger, past his prime, can get that close then Lorenzo and Pedrosa will still very much fancy their chances.
So enough of the knee jerk reactions eh? And best you hold off on that call to the publishers to rewrite the record books......for the moment anyway.
Qatar
That would be the race where Marc Marquez got back on a bike for the first time after 6 weeks out with injury. When he was riding with a broken leg.
Of course, if Lorenzo hadn't pushed to hard on the first lap, the outcome may have been very different indeed.
