Nico Terol has taken a rampant victory at his home Grand Prix during the Moto2 race at Aragon. Riding on his birthday weekend, the Spaniard lead from start to finish and never looked in danger of being challenged over the course of the race. His compatriot and weekend long rival Tito Rabat finished in second place, two seconds behind, while his teammate Pol Espargaro completed the podium places. He edged out his main championship combatant Scott Redding in a ferocious battle that saw several extremely hard passing maneuvers.
Fellow Marc VDS Kalex rider Mika Kallio crossed the line in fifth place right behind the scrapping pair of Espargaro and Redding. Jordi Torres, Johann Zarco and Julian Simon all had extremely lonely rides into sixth, seventh and eighth places respectively while Mattia Pasini and a perhaps slightly bashful Sandro Cortese rounded out the top ten.
Cortese was involved in a hairy incident on the last corner where he cut aggressively in front of Alex DeAngelis and brought him crashing down, DeAngelis was then struck by Dominique Aegerter, who was apart of the same last corner multiple rider battle. He was amazingly able to walk away from the accident. It was a race high in incident as there were also crashes for Anthony West, Simone Corsi, Azlan Shah, Ezequiel Iturrioz, Thomas Luthi, Xavier Simeon and Steven Odendaal.
