2013 Aragon MotoGP FP1 Result: Typical Trio At Top

Jorge Lorenzo has continued his Misano momentum and topped MotoGP FP1 at the Motorland Aragon circuit. He finished a microscopic eight thousandths of a second ahead of championship leader and rookie upstart Marc Marquez, while fellow Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa completed a familiar looking top three, two tenths further behind.

Alvaro Bautista made it an all Spanish top four at the Alcañiz based circuit ahead of Valentino Rossi, Stefan Bradl and Cal Crutchlow. Starting his 200th consecutive grand prix weekend Andrea Dovizioso finished in eight place and top Ducati rider followed by his teammate Nicky Hayden and Bradley Smith who rounded out the top ten placings.

Four years ago, the teams assembled at Aragon for the first time in MotoGP history. In the first free practice session, Dani Pedrosa was fastest with a 1m 50.506s lap. Second fastest was Nicky Hayden, 1m 50.917s. That was with the maligned carbon-fibre 'airbox chassis' that someone said was no good. What is Nicky doing today?
