2013 Mugello Moto2 QP Result: A Sudden Change Of Fortune

Results and summary of qualifying for the Moto2 class at Mugello:

Championship leader Scott Redding secured his second pole position of the year with a lap of 1'52.958 at the Mugello circuit. The time pulled the Briton one-tenth clear of second-place qualifier Takaaki Nakagami and, more importantly, restored the young rider's confidence after a poor practice session and massive crash. Marcel Schrotter surprised the field when he grabbed the final front-row slot for his best qualifying position of the year and of his career.

Pol Espargaro, typically good for a late charge to the top, never found consistency through practice and qualfying and ended the QP in 10th when traffic balked what could have been his best lap of the day. Redding, who leads the championship by 24 points, won the last race at the LeMans circuit.
