2012 Nürburgring World Supersport Race Result: Fast Paced Race To The Flag

In a race that would be vital for the championship, a fast pace was set by the race leader, ensuring that there would be few overtakes in the earlier stages, and that the fast men left the slow far behind.

Kenan Sofuoglu led from the beginning and was hounded the entire race by Jules Cluzel, with Sam Lowes, Fabien Foret and Broc Parkes in close attendance. Sofuoglu pushed from the front and set a pace that was hard to follow, yet the PTR Hondas of Cluzel and Lowes kept with him for most of the race, with Cluzel passing Sofuoglu briefly but being unable to hold the lead. Fabien Foret was able to pass both Parkes and Lowes to join Cluzel and Sofuoglu, but Lowes and Foret tangled throughout, eventually leading to Lowes losing the front and crashing out with only four laps remaining. With three laps left, Foret couldn't keep up with the front two men and settled into third place while Sofuoglu broke Cluzel by setting fastest lap after fastest lap to the flag where he won with just over a half a second lead.

With Lowes scrambling to 14th, he lost third place in the title chase to a resurgent Foret, while Kenan Sofuoglu has pretty much assured his third World Supersport title.
