ART
Are all Aprilia ARTs created equal? Are they delivered with a stockish RSV engine and teams maximize perfomance or does Aprilia have some type of engine agreement where they maintain the engines?
No they are not
The engines vary greatly as Aspar gets engines from Aprilia more or less while Ioda puts in stock engines apparently. They also use different frames. And I wouldn't be surprised if they had big differences in electronics as well.
Confusing ART's and Ioda CRT
I think you are confusing ART's and Ioda's CRT project. While the Ioda CRT is based on RSV4 it is an entirely independent bike designed and made by Ioda without any assistance from Aprilia. That is why they have stock motor in a tubular chassis and Petruci is conceding over 20 kph to other CRT's on the straights.
As for the rest of the ART's i think they are all more or less the same spec. which is why Aprilia was able to let PBM and James Ellison peak into Aspar and Randy's setup data!
I think the time difference between the ART's are purely due rider skill, setup and experience of the teams with the machinery in that order.
Lap numbers
Do they give how many laps the riders did?
Laps
Yes, over on the other site. Best time, on which lap of how many. Still, this session is only for testing improvements. It would be nice to be able to read more than is possible into the times to add to our appetites for info.
barbera
is barbera testing the newer GP12 or did he find something extra?
usual barbera
I'm sure it was a combination of a tow and new tires. He's yet to translate any of his single fast laps to race results, or even repeat the fast lap time during a race.
probably
but maybe its time ducati upgrade his bike or atleast some updates i mean its not like he's terrible unlike Abraham at the moment
agreed...
I'm not totally positive, but are the satellite Ducatis still on the GP0 version of the bike?
I wonder how long Abraham will continue to run the Ducati as he would probably get the same results with an ART for a lot less money.
I keep wondering why he kept
I keep wondering why he kept his seat(other than its his fathers team) or even why he's in the premiere class at all.
Its a Testing Session
Hang on, you can't read anything into these times. Its only a testing session, look where Lorenzo ended up.
Cal had a big off, so he will be hurting, using large tubs of skin balm by the sound of it !
Sure you can make inferences, but as the Barbera time shows, different riders had different agendas.
Shakey?
Any word on lap times by Shakey Byrne?
They would've been better
They would've been better off letting Laverty or someone else who hasn't had a thousand chances prove himself test the bike.
What about Bautistas'
What about Bautistas' time!
Quicker than the factory boys in that session!
