Like last weekend at Assen, it's a wet Superpole. Two 20-minute sessions, sixteen riders in the first session and the top eight in the second. The track was most noticeably damp in the Parabolica, the 180-degree last corner, but most of the chicanes appeared to be more challenging than usual.
The lower speeds gave the Ducatis a chance and the faster Effenbert bikes were quick to make their mark and Sykes was able to secure a good position in the first session before what looked like a minor mechanical fault. However, it was Marco Melandri and Tom Sykes that were able to get the top spots at the end of the first session.
With half of the bikes in the second session being Ducatis, it was clear that the weather had destroyed the four cylinder bikes's advantage and it looked like ending Tom Sykes's perfect run of pole positions this season.
In the second session, riders went out on qualifying slicks, braving the risky conditions for a last chance of a front row start, with Guintoli taking the first pole position of anyone other Tom Sykes, who had to settle for second ahead of Marco Melandri and Carlos Checa who made the most of the weather.
