Thankfully WSBK is on today, and as much as I hate to say it, I'm enjoying the AMA stuff a lot more than MotoGP this season.

I'm not getting much of a thrill out of WSBK but AMA has been particularly decent racing. First time I have said that in many years.

Not to threadjack, but AMA has been amazing this season. Five winners or more for the first time in SBK since 2005 (Mat and Ben both raced SBK that season), and the 2010 championship will not be decided until the final round at Barber. When TC came back in 2006, machine parity completely fell apart, but it looks like things are headed in the right direction again. It is a shame that Mat and Ben's great performances were undermined by Suzuki's obvious performance advantage.

It would be nice if more of the North American distributors were interested in good racing. Without Suzuki and Yamaha, the series would have been lost. I will not forget that.

Truly this wasn't what one would call a bar banging, bull snorting, tire grinding specticle but I have to say the demunitive Dani was a pretty amazing one man show today.

I think I have forgiven him for the Nicky thrashing of 2006 now. He is a real talent that seems to just now be coming to a consistant grip on how to man handle the Honda beast. Good on ya mate.

Poor Nicky. He now has the snaffu hat trick at Misano.

Whoa... My TV guide said there was a race on TV today from Misano? They were clearly mistaken or it was a goof in the printing. I did however enjoy the very nice parade that was on tv instead...

First, I'm a Hayden fan, but karma really bit him in the backside today. He gave DeAngelis hell (more than just the blame) for his first lap antics last year, but this year Nicky was the fruity helmet. It will be interesting to see if Capirossi gives him a pass.

Second, Stoner must be dying to get onto the Honda. The RC looks so well sorted, and Pedrosa is riding it brilliantly. I fear a bit for the racing, b/c the Honda has traditionally been a very good starter. Pedrosa and Stoner both like to be the hare that everyone chases so if both of them have the fastest bike on the grid, it could make for some awful races. If the Honda maintains this performance advantage, we are going to see the Criville vs. Doohan era revisited (with the same outcome, imo). With a little luck, we will be treated to a few Catalunya 2009's.

Third, British Eurosport's coverage of MotoGP is the only thing keeping MotoGP alive in the English-speaking world, imo. Toby, Jules, and Spalding are race commentators for the start of the race, and then they hold a world-class MotoGP talk show during the race. If any thing should happen, they are always available to switch back into race mode, but they have the ability to carry the show if the racing is weak. It is beyond all comprehension, that Dorna would have taken exclusive coverage away from them, even if BBC has raised ratings. The extra dosh isn't worth it if the product suffers. No offense to Cox and Parrish, but they aren't part of the broadcasting aliens. :-D

Julian Rider obviously rooted for Tomizawa, and his voice was trembling when he mentioned about his death during the motogp race. He must have been pretty upset. Words fails.. sums up what happened yesterday at Misano, and the race itself lacked excitement and did not deserve to be mentioned in detail compared to his death.

I thought the same about Hayden and Misano until i saw the helicopter view up on the motogp website. Looks like Capirossi took a line which put him directly in Hayden's path. Just looks like a racing incident.

Agreed on the Eurosport coverage. If i can't see it on Eurosport then I don't even consider BBC and will actually wait to see it on Speed...ouch. Also I'm not so sure about the Honda's "performance advantage" since the leader in points is on a Yamaha and today for all we know Lorenzo had a old engine in the bike nursing it around to a 2nd place. I wouldn't doubt them being a bit conservative on his engines for a couple of races and then maybe let him lose with a fresh one for the last couple of races.

Hopefully 2012 will bring more excitement to MotoGP and as much as I've enjoyed watching B.Spies' progression, seeing 3-4 passes in a 60km race leaves a bit to be desired... In the mean time, AMA racing has been excellent this year

Interesting you should say that, Doughnuts, because I'm inclined to think Rossi's been getting detuned engines lately too. I'm told Rossi's not getting new developement stuf for the rest of the season! Dirty trick, I reckon!

If true I'm not so sure I'd call it a dirty trick. I mean if the ink is dry then why would Yamaha want Rossi to keep getting knowledge on the strengths and weaknesses of the ends and stuff they'll be using next year? I'm sure the same scenerio applies to Stoner since if he continues to have problems with his forks I wouldn't expect Ducati to let him try out the 2011 forks. I guess that's just a side effect of these guys announcing their intention to race for other teams so early in the season. No other sport is really like that in the way that MotoGP is, at least not that I can think of off the top of my head.

I think it is really a sad state of affairs when we are forced to give thought to the fact that someone may be given a detuned engine in the "premier" motorcycle racing series.

The discussion used to be one of "these other manufacturers need to get their act together and bring their bikes up to XYZ's performance".

Unleash the horses. Bring back the unrestricted fire breathers. Increase the fuel allocation from 21 liters to 21 barrels. Remove traction, wheelie, launch control.

After rossi passed stoner and dovi's tires gave out it was over..... What happend to spies - his bike was going backwards for the first several laps...

I agree with most of you. The MotoGP race was an absolute bore, as nearly all of them have been this year. The race turned into a parade before they completed 4 laps. I ended up fast-forwarding through much of this race, and I never do that. Pretty sad that the gossip and silly season for MotoGP has been far more entertaining than any of the races this season.

They really need to make rider weight included in the package. How are you suposed to leave a corner and pass someone who weights as much as a kid on these nerfed bikes?

Dani gets off the corner so well because he is the best at picking the thing up onto the fat part of the tyre and yanking what were once known as throttle cables damn hard. His weight has next to naught to do with it. Credit where it's due.
