Nico Terol seized the initiative during the first session of practice after the summer break for the 125cc riders. The Bancaja Aspar rider - now recovered from the fractured vertebrae he suffered at Barcelona - led for nearly all of the session, ending up over half a second faster than the rest. Teammate Bradley Smith took 2nd spot, the Bancaja Aspar team having made good use of the summer period to sort out the bike. Smith finished over quarter of a second ahead of Red Bull Ajo's Marc Marquez, the championship leader suffering a nasty highside towards the end of the session, and being taken to the medical center for further examination. Pol Espargaro rounds out the top 4.
UPDATE:
Marquez has apparently dislocated his left shoulder. It is uncertain what effect this will have on the rest of his race weekend.

OUCH.
That SUCKS about Marquez. The way the Moto GP world feed made it look, he had his crash after the checkered flag, on the cool-down lap. Whether or not that's the case, it's just awful. We've had enough of things being decided by injuries this year, and I really feel bad for the little guy.
