Marc Marquez opened the first practice at the Sachsenring where he left off at Catalunya. The Red Bull Ajo rider topped the timesheets by a punishing eight tenths of a second, leaving the competition - thinned by the absence of Bancaja Aspar's Nico Terol, who is recovering from fractured vertebra picked up in his crash at Barcelona - a very long way behind. Pol Espargaro was closest, ahead of Tuenti Derbi teammate Efren Vazquez, while local boy Jonas Folger finished 4th.

Fait accompli
That is a huge margin at a short track.
The future ?
Good to see a full grid in 125.
As for Marc Marquez,I touted this youngster to be an absolute ace once he got that first win bogey off his back.
Now,if I had any clout within Ducati's ranks I would already have him on a retainer to race in the Pramac squad next year.Like Ben from SBK,this racer is the real deal out of 125 ranks. Many say ridiculous things like he's too young, too light and sundry rubbish.
I'm not au faix with the rules re jumping from 125 up to GP,but if this is not an issue,
any manufacturer competing this year's Championship should be hunting him down like the Holy Grail for 2011. Moto 2 he does not need in my book.
think
i think he needs at least one season in moto2 to be fair, but there isn't much point in him staying for another season in 125's like this, he's too good for anyone else in the class, though there is a chance he could disappear into mid-pack in moto2, if he did move up next year it will probably be more settled anyway
as for moving up from 125's to motogp, i don't see why not, i think leon haslam did it from 125 to 500 didn't he?
too small?
i was just thinking along the same lines this morning - marquez has been fantastic this year and the future sure looks bright for him, but i have a feeling he may be too small for a ducati ride. he looks small even on the 125 machine.
his stats put him in at a cm and kg over pedrosa and he's also 8 years younger then dani, but i just think that while the current honda may be ok for a small rider, the ducati will not - it is a very physical bike. we'll have to see if marquez has any growth spurts left in him... and what the bikes look like in a year.
i wouldn't be surprised if we saw elias on a duc (or a tech3??) for one last year in motogp.

I agree entirely PITBULL
Talent is talent and will adapt quick enough. There's a dearth of top flight riders around right now. I'd put Pol Espargaro in there too, I like his aggressiveness.
yes!
now that's one i'd love to see. pol has been *amazing* for 2 seasons now and how cool would it be for two brothers to race in the top class - hell, maybe even on the same team :)
