2010 Assen Moto2 Qualifying Practice Result - Crash-Ridden Session Sees Comfortable Pole

Results and summary of Moto2 qualifying at Assen:

Andrea Iannone continued his dominance from practice during qualifying for the Moto2 class at Assen, taking a comfortable pole with a late charge. But the question that will hang over Iannone's pole will be what could have happened if Alex Debon, currently sitting in 3rd on the Aeroport de Castello FTR machine, hadn't been knocked off and injured after just 3 full laps. Debon ran into the back of a much slower rider at the exit of the very fast Ramshoek corner, and went down very hard. The Spanish veteran did not return for the session.

Ratthapark Wilairot caused a bit of a surprise, qualifying in second, while former championship leader Shoya Tomizawa rounds out the front row for tomorrow's race.

courtesy of a slower Pasini (who is not a rookie!) right in front of him in section 4.
Of course, that is part of qualifying with such a large grid but I felt gutted for him anyways.

I notice Wilairot is on a Bimota, looks like it's starting to work good.

what happened to Axel Pons? He seemed to be in quite a bit of pain lying on the racetrack.
