2010 Silverstone Moto2 Qualifying Practice Result - Convincing Pole Taken Late In Session

Results and summary of qualifying practice for the Moto2 class:

Claudio Corti continued his strong showing at Silverstone, the Forward Racing rider taking pole by over four tenths of a second with a couple of minutes left during qualifying. Corti had reasserted himself after a confusing session, with more new names coming to the fore during QP. Corti had led early ahead of MarcVDS rider Scott Redding, the young Briton desperate to make his mark at his home GP, as attested by the fact that Redding had so many laps cancelled after he ran on at Turn 5.

With 18 minutes to go, Racing Team Germany's Arne Tode took over provisional pole, holding on for 10 minutes until Blusens' Yonny Hernandez took over from the German. Hernandez held on until the last two minutes, when Corti seized the initiative again and set a blistering lap of 2'09.624.

Corti will start ahead of his teammate Jules Cluzel, a good 1-2 for the Forward Racing team. Viessmann Kiefer'sStefan Bradl set the 3rd fastest time, while Mapfre Aspar's Julian Simon rounds out the front row.
