2010 Mugello MotoGP Qualifying Practice Result - Two Men Battle Over Pole

Results and summary of qualifying for the MotoGP class at Mugello:

Dani Pedrosa will start tomorrow's Italian Grand Prix from pole tomorrow, the Repsol Honda rider's second of the season. Pedrosa had only one serious rival for pole, lone Fiat Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo. Lorenzo looked to have clinched pole with 11 minutes to go, but Pedrosa pipped him in the final seconds.

Marlboro Ducati's Casey Stoner completes the front row, a good result from an otherwise dismal weekend, but his problems are not yet solved, he told the MotoGP.com commentators after QP was over. The new forks provided better feedback, but getting the bike to turn was more difficult. His race pace was still six or eight tenths off that of Lorenzo and Pedrosa.

Nicky Hayden completed the improvement for Marlboro Ducati, the Kentucky Kid heading up the second row in 4th position. Hayden sits ahead of Monster Tech 3 Yamaha's Colin Edwards and LCR Honda's Randy de Puniet. Edwards' teammate Ben Spies sits at the front of row three, with Andrea Dovizioso in 8th, and Pramac Ducati's Aleix Espargaro making sublime use of the tow from Hayden to end in 9th. Interwetten Honda's Hiroshi Aoyama scored an equally impressive 10th time.

Andrea's lame jab at Pedrosa was almost as bad a Puig's remarks towards Hayden. If Andrea doesn't have the mental fortitude to deal with Puig/Pedrosa in private with the team, he needs to go elsewhere.

I hope Pedrosa beats him handily in Italy just b/c Dovi doesn't have the seniority or the results to start talking smack about the guy who has basically generated all of Honda's results for the last 3 seasons.

Apparently, there is still a race to be run tomorrow. Sorry Vale won't be there, but suggestions of it being a mere formality appear to be premature. Funny(and wonderful) thing about racers.

I just notice that Bautista is so far off. He can't be feeling well. Is he going to ride 2 laps and pull in for legitimacy and start money?

He said he's determined to finish the race and he doesn't strike me as a quitter. With his multiple fractures and bruised ribs he's definitely not feeling well, but considerably better than in Le Mans and the painkillers seem to be doing their job. Also, with only 16 starters odds are that he'll bag a few points if he makes it over the finish line.

I hope Casey and his team can step it up a bit to make a good race.
Either that or maybe Nicky and Casey can have a good battle for 3rd or even 2nd.

I posted a after FP1 that it felt like Big Ben's time and he would podium. I'm not claiming to be Nostradamus but I mentioned some "big" names would find the gravel but I never imagined what would actually come to fruition with Vale. It's just not the same without him and now it's JLo's to lose. Anyway, back to Ben and I see the times and he's a second off the leader but I continue to feel, imagine or hope I guess that Ben will still podium this weekend. The Duc pair just do not sound or look comfortable and we have seen how Pedrosa finishes races but that's not to say the little guy can't win the thing this weekend. Good luck to all and best, best wishes to the BEST EVER!

Could Lorenzo take the most wins in a season? this year? only Stoner can stop this.. on a good bike that he doesnt have but if he fills in for Rossi then.. game on..

Dani beats Dovi by some 15 seconds or more.

So sorry Vale wont be there, Mugello just wont be the same.

I was wondering what he would come up with for Mugello Special edition helmet, Though he's haircut is quiet something lol

16 Riders ... :( how interesting can it really be, MOTO 2 will be a awesome though.
