Results and summary of the 125cc race at Indianapolis:
Pol Espargaro took his maiden win in the 125cc race at Indianapolis, after a tight, race-battle for the lead. Six men escaped from the start, Nicolas Terol leading the way, ahead of Bradley Smith, Simone Corsi, Espargaro, championship leader Julian Simon and Efren Vazquez. Though there was nothing separating the six, the order stayed roughly the same for most of the race, Terol leading while Smith, Corsi and Espargaro planned moves on each other, occasionally sneaking a place, and sometimes losing out again. Simon was happy to sit on the back of the group, guarding his title lead and ensuring he didn't lose too many points to the rivals ahead of him.
The chase continued for lap after lap, but the man on the move was Pol Espargaro. He picked the riders ahead of him off one at a time, until with 2 laps to go he dived up the inside of Terol on the way into Turn 1, snatching the lead. A lap later, Bradley Smith was following Espargaro's lead, but this time with an outstandingly brave move round the outside into Turn 1 and into 2nd. So surprised by the move was Terol that he immediately dropped 4 places, ending up scrapping with Simon over 4th, Smith and Corsi ahead of him. Terol salvaged one place, crossing the line in 4th, ahead of Julian Simon.
