Repsol Honda Team resumes action following summer break
The Repsol Honda Team heads to Brno in the Czech Republic with Marc Marquez leading the Championship on 129 points and Dani Pedrosa in fifth place on 103 points, just 26 off the top after nine races in one of the closest seasons ever.
Marc and Dani are ready for the second half of the season following a four-week break that was interrupted only by a two-day private test at the same track on July 17 and 18.
The Repsol Honda Team has achieved one 1-2 finish at the Czech GP, in 2013. Marc holds the Pole record of 1’54.596, Dani the Circuit record at 1’56.027.
At the Grand Prix České Republiky
Marc Marquez has 2 wins: 1 x Moto2 (2012) and 1 x MotoGP (2013), plus an additional 3 podiums and 3 pole positions.
Dani Pedrosa has 4 wins: 1 x 125 (2003), 1 x 250 (2005), and 2 x MotoGP (2012, 2014), plus an additional 6 podiums and 2 pole positions.
“I enjoyed having time to rest and go to the sea with some friends, but I also used this long summer break to train for the second part of the Championship. Such a close season is exciting but also very demanding, meaning that you have to always keep your concentration high and try to constantly be at the best level possible, adapting to every situation. So it was good to go testing at Brno during the summer break because it allowed us to work on the bike and stay focused on the job. Brno is a nice track but one of the most demanding, with many changes of direction and uphill and downhill sections. We’ll try to make the best of the work we’ve done during the test and to prepare to fight for the podium on Sunday.”
"We've had four weeks without racing but not entirely without action as we had a positive test in Brno in mid-July which was very useful for working on the setup of our bike. The weather was good and we could fully exploit both days. I've been training in anticipation for second half of the season but I also had time for some holidays, which was good to disconnect a bit and recharge the batteries. Now I'm looking forward to jumping on my bike again at Brno which is one of my favourite tracks on the calendar. I have some very good memories there and together with my team I’ll do my utmost to get another good result next Sunday”.
Movistar Yamaha MotoGP Back in Action in Brno After Summer Break
The Movistar Yamaha MotoGP Team starts the tenth MotoGP round with more determination than ever after a four-week abstinence from MotoGP racing. As the Monster Energy Grand Prix Ceské Republiky at the Automotodrom Brno is rapidly approaching, the team can hardly wait to get the show back on the road.
Maverick Viñales arrives in the Czech Republic in second place in the championship standings, five points from first, and with a great hunger to reclaim the number one spot.
Feeling refreshed after four weeks of training and spending time with family and friends, the young gun is ready to commence the title challenge in the second half of the championship, starting this weekend. He stood on the Czech podium once before in 2013, having secured second place in the Moto3 race. His best finish on a MotoGP bike in Brno is ninth place.
Teammate Valentino Rossi is also looking forward to stepping aboard his YZR-M1 again this weekend at the hilly circuit of Brno. Currently in fourth place, just ten points behind the championship leader, the Doctor has all to play for at a track where he holds a stunning record.
The nine-time World Champion secured his first ever 125cc win at the Czech Republic track in 1996. This was followed by a 250cc win in 1999, a 500cc victory in 2001 and modern era premier class Brno victories in 2003, 2005, 2008 and 2009. All combined, he stood on the podium there 14 times, including the two consecutive third places in 2014 and 2015 and a second place last year, making him a tough contender to bet against.
The first motorcycle racing event in Brno took place in 1930, while the first Grand Prix was held there in 1965. Racers would ride 500cc bikes through the villages and western parts of the city on a 13.94km road track, until the new circuit was built during the 1980s. In 1987 the 5.4km Automotodrom track (six left corners, eight right corners) hosted its first FIM Czech Grand Prix, which became popular with both fans and riders thanks to its great atmosphere and location. The natural bowl in which the circuit is situated, offers spectators a perfect view of the action as the second half of the season kicks off.

"I've rested during these holidays. I've passed a lot of time with my friends, but I returned to training and preparing myself as soon as possible and I feel good. I trained at the gym and on the bike, but now I want to go back to my M1 and work together with my team. The championship is still wide open and we will have to work hard to be always on the podium. Brno's is a track I really like, I have a lot of good memories of this circuit and I hope I can make it another nice race this weekend. It will be important to be quick from the first session!"
Movistar Yamaha MotoGP - Team Director
"It's great to return from the holidays with recharged batteries and, having been able to rest, we can't wait to get back out on track. Both the riders kept busy preparing themselves for the championship challenge during the summer break, so we arrive in the Czech Republic in good shape. This will be crucial in this closely contested season, especially with back-to-back races in the next two weeks. There are four riders within ten points at the top of the championship standings, so over the next nine races we have to keep focused and put in a 100% like we always do, starting this weekend. The Ducati Team begins the second half of the 2017 season at Brno with the Czech Grand Prix
One month on since the Sachsenring race, the Ducati Team has now arrived at Brno in the Czech Republic for the tenth round of the 2017 season.
Andrea Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo took advantage of the summer break to enjoy a few days’ holiday and keep in shape for the second half of the season, which gets underway with three particularly challenging races in the month of August.
Even though Dovizioso likes the layout of the Moravian circuit, the Italian has never had much luck at Brno and his best result was a second place in 2011, while in last year’s edition, which was held on a damp track, he had to retire on lap 16. Jorge Lorenzo has two wins to his name here in 2010 and 2015, in addition to three more podiums in his nine MotoGP appearances at Brno.
The Czech Grand Prix weekend gets underway on Friday morning with the first free practice session at 9.55 am, while the 22-lap race is scheduled for Sunday at 1400 CET.
Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team #04) – 3rd (123 points)

Until 1982, races at Brno took place on a street circuit on the outskirts of the city but a new permanent track was built in the mid-1980s and the Czech Republic Grand Prix returned to the calendar in 1987 after a gap of several years. Hugely popular with riders and fans, the circuit is situated in the hilly woods around Brno, which offer a fantastic view of the action from trackside.

BACK TO WORK AFTER THE SUMMER BREAK

The summer break has come to an end for Team SUZUKI ECSTAR. Riders and crews are already heading to Brno where on Sunday the Czech Republic Moto Grand Prix will be held.
Both Andrea Iannone and Alex Rins spent the last month resting, but also made time to focus on physical and mental training in order to renew their enthusiasm to return to racing with a competitive attitude and in perfect shape.
The latest results before the break gave the riders and the engineers many indications as to which direction the development should take, so the R&D department in Japan was able to work on further improvements. Speaking of technical advancements, Mr. Shinichi Sahara, current SMC Racing Group Manager, will take part in Friday’s mid-season review press conference, where he will make the first assessment of the season so far.
The challenges at the circuit in Brno include a number of elevation changes through forested hillsides, as well as fast and slow corners which test engineering and the rider’s talent to the limit. The track has a length of 5.4 km (3.36 miles) with six left and eight right-hand corners. Sunday's MotoGP race will take place over 22 laps for a total distance of 118.9 km (73.9 miles).
“I’m happy to get back to racing, and I feel enthusiastic because I think that on Saturday in Sachsenring we could discover something important for my GSX-RR, that I may find a better feel with it and ride more confidently. I used this break to train a lot. I also took a rest especially to calm my mind, but the main focus has been the physical training. Now I feel perfectly focused. The circuit of Brno is one that I like, so I’m happy that we start again from there. In this second part of the Championship we have to produce better results than in the first nine races. I know that the whole team is eager to have some positive results as much as I am. That allows me to feel very comfortable getting back to the paddock. We are going to begin a tough challenge. We have to improve our performance and our results, but I’m confident we have all the potential to succeed.”
"This year’s vacation has been very different from what I was used to, just as the Championship has been very unusual for me. The various injuries I suffered since the end of 2016 marked and changed my whole calendar, so it likewise affected the program for this summer break. I tried to work as hard as possible to completely recover from the arm and the ankle injuries, as well as getting physically toned. To be honest, I truly enjoyed this training period. Now I feel stronger and fit, I was also able to enjoy some riding on motorbikes besides cycling and the gym.”
MOTOGP BACK ON THE TRACK AT BRNO
IT WAS A JULY FILLED WITH HARD WORK FOR APRILIA, THE GOAL IS TO GROW MORE
After a four-week break, the MotoGP Championship engines are ready to start. The premier category in motorcycle racing will make a stop at Brno, a historic circuit in the Czech Republic, for what will be the first race of the second half of the season.
There was not much time for holidays in the Aprilia camp. Development on the RS-GP has continued nonstop with the goal being to confirm the positive trend that the young Italian project has shown from the first race and to consolidate the good performance level.
The Aprilia Racing Team Gresini riders, Aleix Espargaró and Sam Lowes, also took advantage of the summer break to recharge their batteries in order to be ready for the demanding season finale.
"In the first part of this break I unplugged. Between the tests and the races, the first part of the season was rather demanding for us, so it was a good chance to take a rest. I am ready and stoked. I know that the guys at Aprilia have worked hard over the past weeks to improve the RS-GP and we will resume our trend of growth at Brno."
"In the last races before the break, my feeling with the RS-GP improved a lot. Now I feel like I can ride the MotoGP bike the right way. There is constant improvement and I want to continue on this trend. Brno is a track that I love. I did good races there in Moto2 and last year I finished on the podium. These are the best conditions for returning to the track after the holidays."
ROMANO ALBESIANO - APRILIA RACING MANAGER
"The first part of the season ended well for us and picking up after the summer break, we will be facing a series of tracks that are very demanding on the engine. We will have a few development steps that we believe are quite interesting. Brno, in particular, is a track that puts the engine and chassis architecture to the test, whereas it tends to be less critical from a braking point of view. We are expecting a hot weekend in terms of weather, with Sunday being especially unpredictable. But we are ready to take on any conditions."

"This month was not exactly a holiday for us. The Aprilia Racing Department worked very hard and we can't wait to see how the track responds. The goal is still to get close to the top of the championship. We are charged up and at the same time, well aware of our chances. I'll say it under my breath, but I am convinced: in the second half of the season, we will make another step forward. We have been working nonstop. We are putting forth our best effort and we will certainly see results."
Reale Avintia riders return to action at Brno
After a four-week break, the MotoGP World Championship returns to action this weekend with the Czech Grand Prix. Reale Avintia Racing riders Hector Barbera and Loris Baz head to the Brno circuit in good shape and look forward to start the second half of the season.
There were no holidays for Hector Barbera, who was training every single day since the last race. He did a lot of cycling, motocross and also spent some days riding a jet ski. The Spanish Reale Avintia rider heads to the Czech Republic very motivated and hopes to start the second part of the championship with a strong result.
Loris Baz made the best possible use of the summer break to solve his arm pump problems. The issues with his right arm had affected his performance in the first half of the season, but are now a thing of the past. After surgery and a short rehab period, Baz confirmed the success of the treatment riding his Ducati Panigale Superbike on a track day at Valencia circuit, and also rode his motocross bike to put his right arm to the test. Like his teammate Barbera, Baz expects to be fighting for the ‘Top 10’ this weekend at Brno. The odds are in favour of the Reale Avintia riders, who both rode a superb race last year finishing in fourth and fifth position.
“I had no holidays. I’ve been training every day to get ready for the second half of the season. I improved in all areas and I head to Brno completely ready and eager to race. I hope to reward my team and sponsors with a good result for all their support, because the first part of the year has been a nightmare and nothing went as we expected. I have no doubt that in the next races we will change this situation and turn things around. I like Brno and it is a good track for the Ducati, so I’ll give my best to make sure I keep my seat.”
“The holidays were good, but too long! But I’m happy because we fixed the arm pump problems and I had enough time to recover. I’ve been testing my arm and now I have no pain any more. I was able to do some laps in Valencia with the Panigale and I also did some days of motocross and supermoto to make sure the arm is ready… and everything was perfect. I’m looking forward to start the second part of the season and see how the arm reacts riding my bike, because riding the MotoGP bike will be the real test. In the first races, arm pump has been an issue, so now without this problem and if we keep working in the same line, we can achieve great results in the second half of the season.”
Home challenge for Abraham after summer break
Pull&Bear Aspar rider is the only Czech representative in the MotoGP class and hopes his local knowledge can help him get the best out of the Ducati GP15
A run of four Sundays without racing finally comes to an end this weekend, as the MotoGP World Championship resumes after the summer break with Marc Márquez on top of one of the closest title battles in living memory. Four riders (Márquez, Maverick Viñales, Andrea Dovizioso and Valentino Rossi) are separated by just ten points, with Dani Pedrosa just 26 behind, which is even closer than the memorable 2006 season, when the top five riders reached the halfway point of the season covered by just 46 points.
The Czech Republic Grand Prix is the home round for Karel Abraham, who will contest the MotoGP race at Brno for the first time since 2015. The Pull&Bear Aspar rider returns to his local track after a strong first half to the season, which included his best ever result in the premier class, which was seventh place at the Dutch TT. Abraham carries the extra pressure of being the only Czech rider on the MotoGP grid but he is hoping to treat the weekend like any other as he aims to get maximum performance out of his Ducati GP15. His team-mate Álvaro Bautista returns to action after a summer that has seen him re-sign with the Pull&Bear Aspar Team for next season. The Spaniard's has a best result of fourth place this season, which added to a fifth, a sixth and a seventh leaves him eleventh in the championship. Bautista is looking forward to resuming at Brno, especially after his sixth place in Germany and because he believes the Czech circuit, with its hard braking and acceleration zones, can suit his Ducati.
Álvaro Bautista:“After such a long break it is fair to say I am really looking forward to racing in the Czech Republic. It is a month since our last race in Germany, where we signed off for the summer in a good way. It was a fun race with a lot of overtakes. Now we go to Brno, a pretty wide circuit, which is not easy because it has a lot of direction changes and you need clear reference points. It is quite a difficult circuit, quite similar to Mugello, so I think it should be well suited to the Ducati. There are some hard braking and acceleration zones, where horsepower is key, so that should help our bike. We will have to work hard from Friday to blow off the summer cobwebs as quickly as possible and reach our full potential.”
Karel Abraham: “I am very much looking forward to getting back on track, especially at my home race, which is also the first race back after the summer. The break was really nice but also very long. I have taken a motorcycle holiday around Europe but also kept up my training to make sure I am in shape for the second half of the season. I am excited to be racing at Brno, where the layout should suit me very well, although it is always a difficult one for me with the extra pressure from the press, fans, friends and family... it is a tough and busy weekend. In any case I will try to treat it like any other race.”
Fired up Tech3 duo ready to get back to business at Czech GP
Johann Zarco and Jonas Folger keenly await the Monster Energy sponsored Czech Grand Prix after the summer break where they hope to continue their superb rookie MotoGP campaigns. Top independent rider Johann Zarco aims to bring his Yamaha home in a notable position with his sights set on sealing another podium to consolidate his 6th position in the championship standings. Whilst Jonas Folger confidently seeks to seal a top tier finish after memorably clinching a 2nd place finish at his home Grand Prix. The action commences at 9:55 on Friday.

“The Czech GP is coming and after the summer break, my energy is good. I have a lot of confidence for this track and since the start of my racing career, I’ve been quite fast there. It was a tricky weekend at the Sachsenring, but I learnt a lot, and Jonas’ podium performance has given me a high level of motivation for the next rounds. When I struggled a bit in Germany, he did such a solid job, which means that we have the right bike and team. Overall, the layout of the Brno track is very good for the Yamaha so I will be focused and I hope to achieve strong results on all three days. I will push every time and work for the race where maybe I can get a podium.”

“I am really looking forward to getting back on my Yamaha at Brno. It was nice to have a short summer break and recharge the batteries after Sachsenring, and now I aim to go to the Czech Republic and keep the same positive feeling from the last race. I feel confident and I think that the bike can work really well at Brno and together with the improvements that we have made, I’m sure that we can have another great weekend. We want to show once again that we are very competitive and that we can stay at the front and be strong at this race.”
“After what seems like a long time off for the summer break, everyone is incredibly impatient to get going again. I can tell you that both Johann and Jonas can’t wait to get back on their YZR-M1 MotoGP bikes in the Czech Republic and do what they do best. Of course, the riders have been following the testing of the other teams, especially those that went to Brno, and I’m sure this made them jealous but keen to return to work. It was nice to have some time off to reflect on the incredible first part of the year for the Monster Yamaha Tech3 team. However, we all thought a lot about how we can perform as well as we did in the opening nine rounds, in the second half of the season. The schedule will be full on for the next few months, with three races in August, two in September and then the super busy month in October with three back-to-back flyaway events. Yet, for now, everyone is excited and ready to return in Brno. Our batteries are fully recharged, physically and mentally, which is also very important and you always eat better when you are hungry and we are really hungry to restart the season! The Czech circuit is special but the weekend will be even more important for us as it’s an event which is sponsored by Monster Energy, our title sponsors. A lot of top Monster Energy staff will be attending the race and I truly hope that we can make some progress with our talks. The feeling is positive on both sides, but we haven’t finalised anything yet so I am looking forward to shaking hands with all the relevant people so that we can finish the year with a comfortable state of mind. Everyone will be glad to be back at the track soon and we all can’t wait for FP1 to start on Friday in the Czech Republic.”
Miller and Rabat ready to restart in Brno
Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS riders Jack Miller and Tito Rabat are ready to get the second half of the 2017 MotoGP season underway this weekend in Brno, after a long summer break spent mainly on two wheels.
Miller, who currently lies 12th in the championship standings with 41 points, split his time between two continents during the four-week break, travelling to Japan to test an EWC specification Honda at Suzuka before heading home to Australia.
The 22-year-old returned to Japan last weekend to contest the Suzuka 8-Hour race for the first time, riding alongside Takaaki Nakagami and Takumi Takahashi. The trio battled for the race lead in the opening hours, but dropped back to eventually finish a creditable fourth following a crash for Nakagami.
Miller will be back on the more familiar Honda RC213V this weekend at Brno, determined to start the second half of the season with a strong result, as he looks to reclaim a top ten position in the championship standings.
There was no globetrotting for Miller's Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS teammate Rabat, who stayed home in Spain to train alongside former 125cc World Champion Julian Simon during the four-week summer break.
Unsurprisingly their training plan revolved almost exclusively around motorcycles, with the pair competing against each other at motocross, flat track and supermoto before switching to four wheels and continuing their friendly rivalry on the kart track.
Rabat heads to the Czech Republic this weekend confident that the strengths of 2017 Honda RC213V will give him the opportunity to start the second half of the season with a good result at the fast and flowing Brno circuit.
"It's been a busy four week break. After Sachsenring I flew straight to Japan for five days of testing for the Suzuka 8 Hour, then it was home to Australia for my brother's wedding before heading back to Japan for my first Endurance World Championship race. So a lot of riding during the break but I'm fit and feeling good and now we're here in Brno ready to race MotoGP again. The goal is to get the second half of the season started in the same way we started the first half, with some top ten finishes and a good points haul."
"I've ridden a lot of different bikes over the summer break, but I'm looking forward to getting back on the Honda RC213V this weekend, because nothing compares to racing a MotoGP bike! Brno was difficult for me last season but I think our bike this year is much better suited to the characteristics of the track, which is a bit like Mugello with very few hard accelerations, so that gives me some confidence going into this race. We still need to keep improving, that is clear, but we worked hard during the first half of the season and I'll continue to push together with my crew during the second half, starting this weekend in Brno."
CRUTCHLOW AND LCR RETURN TO BRNO A YEAR ON

Just shy of a year since Cal Crutchlow and the LCR Honda Team sealed their first ever MotoGP victory together, the Brit and his team return to the stunning Brno venue in the Czech Republic as the World Championship reconvenes after a four-week hiatus. Conditions are not too dissimilar from the ones that saw Crutchlow steal a march on his rivals last season, with air temperatures well past the 30-degree mark currently, but with the possibility of some sporadic thunderstorms over the weekend.
There will be no revelling in past glories once the action returns to the track however, Crutchlow currently sits in 10th place in the standings on 64 points and is keen to add the podium finish he scored back in round two in Argentina.
Before the racing gets under way, Cal joined several other riders in an exhibition of JetSurf at the Brno Dam on Thursday. Although it took a while for the Brit to get up to speed on the water, he eventually got into the swing of things, so much so that he sealed the award for Best Trick of the day.
"It was nice for me to get my first win here last year, it was a great milestone in my career, and to do it at such a fantastic circuit as Brno – well, they always put on a great event so it was perfect. The likelihood of repeating victory here again this year isn’t huge, but we’ll be trying our best nonetheless.
“We’ve had some good races and some bad races so far this year, but the races we’ve finished have generally been in a good position like the podium in Argentina and some fourths and fifths. We now just need to make sure we do a good second half of the season, and ride well throughout.
“Our pace is never far away from the factory boys, sometimes faster. Sachsenring was a bit of a disappointment and I was expecting to be on the podium there but it wasn’t to be. So I hope we can come back and challenge for the podium here this weekend.”
MICHELIN READY TO ROLL AFTER THE MID-SEASON BREAK
Michelin is all set for the resumption of the 2017 MotoGP™ World Championship as the spectacle heads to Brno for the Monster Energy Grand Prix České Republiky and the 10th round of this already fascinating season.
Michelin’s ability to produce tyres for all manufacturers and rider styles, plus the continued search to match the correct compounds to all the different tracks has in part helped to produce the tightest championship for years and when the riders take to the track at the 5,403m Brno Grand Prix circuit, the top-four respectively of Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team), Maverick Viñales (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP), Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) and Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) will be separated by just 10-points.
The French tyre firm will bring MICHELIN Power Slick tyres to Brno specifically matched to the medium abrasiveness of the circuit and to take into account the hard-braking areas, powerful acceleration zones and the undulating nature of the track – which features elevation changes of over 70m between the highest and lowest points of the circuit. The soft, medium and hard front slicks will be a symmetrical design, whilst the same density selection of rears will feature an asymmetric pattern, despite the track being more evenly balanced with its six left turns and eight right-handers, the speed of these turns means greater demands go through the right shoulder of the tyre, necessitating the need for a harder compound on that side.
The Masaryk Circuit, more commonly known as the Automotodrom Brno, is situated in the south-east of the Czech Republic. Its location is approximately 200km from the country’s capital Prague and is located close to the borders of Austria, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland and with its position of being the most eastern European race of the year, it always makes for a well-attended event. Like recent races at Assen and Sachsenring, the original Brno race was held on streets and went through neighbouring villages, before the current enclosed track – which features a golf course within the layout – was built in 1987. The hillsides that surround the circuit create a natural viewing area, where a fantastic atmosphere is produced by the huge crowds that gather on them during the weekend.
With its location, Brno is also susceptible to inclement weather – as last year’s race showed – so to cover all eventualities the range of MICHELIN Power Rain tyres will be available in soft and medium compounds for the front and rear, with just the rear medium featuring an asymmetric design with the harder right-hand-side similar to the slick versions.
Michelin and the riders resume track action on Friday 4th August for the first two of the four free practice sessions, with another free practice the following morning followed by the final one in the afternoon, just before excitement of the qualifying sessions when grid places for Sunday’s 22-lap race will be decided. The main event will get underway at 14.00hrs local time (13.00hrs BST, 12.00hrs GMT) on Sunday 6th August.

“It’s great to get back to racing action after the mid-season break, although we have been working throughout as we continue to analyse the data from the first nine races and look at the strategies for the rest of the year, starting with the race at Brno. This is certainly a complex circuit and always a big test for the tyres. It’s a wide track with many elevation changes and a wide variety of corners. The hard-braking downhill zones place extra load on the front and then consistent and stable rear grip is needed to force the acceleration of the bikes on to the asphalt. This puts a lot of stress and demands on both the front and rear tyres, so we need to have rubber that can cope with almost everything. Last year we had a wet race, but prior to that the track was dry and we saw some very fast lap-times, we would like it to be fine this weekend so we can show what the slicks can do over a race distance and give the riders the grip and consistency they need to put on a good show for the huge crowds expected at Brno.”

- The Brno race circuit was opened for GPs 30 years ago and has held a World Championship event every year except for 1992. Along with Jerez and Assen, it has hosted the most GPs and is one of the three on the calendar that have hosted an event uninterruptedly since 1993.
- Brno is the only circuit that has not undergone a layout change in the last 30 years.
- Ducati holds the top speed record at Brno at 316.4 km/h, reached in 2015 with Andrea Iannone.
- 10 points separate the first four riders in the championship, which is the shortest difference in the history of the championship after just nine 9 races.
- Jorge Lorenzo has five victories in the Czech Republic: 2004 in the 125cc class; 2006 and 2007 in 250cc; and in 2010 and 2015 with MotoGP. Lorenzo is next to Rossi and Pedrosa, the only other riders who have won in Brno in all categories.
- The circuit that most resembles Brno is Mugello because of its six changes of direction and big elevation changes.
- Brno and Mugello are also the only two tracks that don’t have speeds that drop lower than 95 km/h.
- 74 meters is the difference in elevation from the circuit’s highest point at the entrance to turn 3, to its lowest point, which lies between turns 10 and 11.
- Ducati has won twice in the Czech Republic: in 2006 with Loris Capirossi and in 2007 with Casey Stoner.
- Riders go from 315 km/h to 125 km/h at the end of the finish line with a braking distance of 333 meter over 6.4 seconds, making it one of the longest braking sections in the whole championship. However, the most difficult braking is turn 10 which descends and requires the riders to put a force of 6.2 kilograms on the brake levers and decelerating under 1.5 Gs.
- Last year's race was the only one in 30 years of history that was held in rainy conditions for the premier class.
- Troy Bayliss finished third in 2003, which was Ducati’s first year in MotoGP. Since then, the Italian brand has achieved five podiums in the Czech Republic.
- Loris Baz, Hector Barbera and Eugene Laverty - all Ducati riders - finished 4th, 5th and 6th respectively in last year's race. The 7th and 8th places also went to Ducati, at the hands of Petrucci and Iannone.
- If Jorge Lorenzo takes the victory in Brno, it will join Qatar and Mugello as the only tracks where he has won six times.
