Loris Baz joins Avintia Racing for 2016

27/09/15 Avintia Racing MotoGP - Grand Prix of Aragon

Avintia Racing wishes to announce the agreement reached with the French rider Loris Baz, who will race for the Spanish team in the 2016 MotoGP World Championship riding a Ducati Desmosedici GP14.2.

The 22 year old French rider started his career in Spain, competing in several regional championships such as the Bancaja Cup in Valencia. He won the Superstock 600 European Champion in 2008. Then he moved to Superstock 1000 combined with the BSB until 2011 when he made his debut in the World Superbike Championship. He won several races and got his best overall result in 2014 with the 5th place in the championship.

2015 has been his rookie season in MotoGP with the Forward Racing team and he currently leads the Open Class ahead of Hector Barbera, who will be his teammate in the Avintia Racing team next season.

I broke this news on Twitter 4 days ago and everyone ignored me ;)

Good news.
Perplexed where Hernandez will go now seeing as he has a Ducati Corse contract for another year. Nowhere left unless the rumours of Aspar taking customer Ducati machinery are true.

Yea I'm also very curious to know where Yonny goes. He's definitely very talented, and with all the talks of expanding into south America, I can't see him lose a seat. But I didn't know he was contracted thru factory.

Having watched Baz across a number of championships he seems very talented, more than many. I fear however, he may live his career in the third tier teams, wherever he races. This would be a shame.

The problem still remains that MotoGP does not have sufficient competitive bikes. I doubt the spec electronics will change that. So what's next?
