Press releases from Repsol Honda and Go&Fun Gresini after the first day of the Honda test at Sepang:
Weather continues to plague Marquez in testing
Wet conditions continued to trouble MotoGP rookie Marc Marquez on the first day of the three day test in Sepang. Marc was delayed going out due to a wet track and then managed only a few exits before more rain arrived. In total he completed 26 laps with a fastest time of 2'03.650.
MARC MÁRQUEZ 2'03.650
"At the moment the weather is definitely not our friend! This morning the circuit was wet and we waited until 11:00 to go out on track. After only 4 exits it began to rain again and the day was over for us. The grip level was very low and at the beginning it was quite difficult to find any grip at all. However, I am happy because I have been able to improve my lap time each time I went out, even though I remained on the same tyres. Let's hope that the weather will be kinder tomorrow and it won't rain!"
BAUTISTA SETS PACE ON FIRST DAY AT SEPANG
Honda began a three-day test at the Sepang Circuit in Malaysia today with typically mixed weather making for less than ideal conditions. Team Go & Fun Honda Gresini rider Alvaro Bautista managed 24 laps in the dry before lunch and 15 in the wet during the afternoon. With 33°C temperatures and 65% humidity the Spaniard stopped the clock at 2'02.19, which compares to his qualifying time at the recent Malaysian Grand Prix of 2’ 01.64. Despite the mixed conditions the opening day has already provided a valuable opportunity to try a series of suspension updates brought by Showa, which will form the basis of the next two days of the test.
