On the eve of the final and official test for the Moto2 class, the IRTA test at Jerez, teams are staging their official launches at various places around the Iberian peninsula. Last weekend, it was the turn of Kev Coghlan's Motorsports 69 time, run by Alex Debon, and on Thursday, Marc Marquez took center stage for the launch of the Repsol / Catalunya Caixa Moto2 team. Below are the press releases from the respective launches:
The new challenge for Alex Debon (MOTO2)
Debon trusts Kev Coghlan to successfully tackle the World Championship starting in three weeks
With the official Team presentation last Saturday at the arrivals terminal Aeroport de Castello, the new project as Sports Manager Alex Debon was released officially. The dream that had Alex Debon for many years to the time when he could no longer compete at top level became a reality. A new challenge for Debon, who hopes to meet more than his first experience in this position without being a rider. Debon made similar work some seasons ago with Jorge Lorenzo, coinciding with his stage as the Fortuna Aprilia Tester Rider.
Begins a new phase for Debon, at the helm Motorsport 69-Aeroport de Castello, where he hopes to repeat the success like when he was a rider, and even believes that can be improved. "My career is still going on but changing a part of the wall for the other. Now I'll be back trying to get our Rider Kev
And to met his wishes Debon has several months with the development of the bike: "We have been working with the mechanics for Kev (Coghlan) to may be struggling with the firsts during the World Championship but we still have few days to finish polishing the details. Debon has full confidence in the UK rider, Kev Coghlan, to get good results. "Kev is not a conformist rider and he gives the maximum in each area of the circuit. Kev is very fast and I think he can give us a lot of joy" he adds.
Five events identified
In just three weeks the World Championship will start. Specifically kicks off March 20th in Losail Circuit (Qatar) and although confident of Coghlan, Debon is clear that there are five meetings in which Coghlan can give more of himself as he knows the circuits: "As he has competed in the Spanish Championship (CEV) he knows well Jerez, Montmelo, Motorland and Cheste as well as Silverstone. I think in these Grands Prix Coghlan can fight with the firsts position riders". Anyway Debon does not rule out good performances in the other 12 races. "With Kev's way of driving I think he can do an excellent World Championship", Debon says.
Debon's words show his ambition which it is possible to the support he receives from Spanish Institutions and Companies. "Aeroport de Castelló involvement will allow us to bring Castellón's name worldwide" he says. "Now we just need to leave the flag high and this will be achieved with good results". Sports Manager and Rider can achieve it.
Marc Márquez presents his new bike in Barcelona
In his debut in the Moto2 class, the young rider will compete again on Repsol colours and surrounded by a team of the highest level
Marc Márquez officially presented today the team that will accompany him in his debut in Moto2, a category in which he will count again on Repsol's support. In an event celebrated today in Barcelona, the rider from Cervera (Lleida) unveiled the full colour design he will wear this season on his overall and bike.
In his fourth year in the Motorcycling World Championship, Marc Márquez has been confirmed as one of the referents of this sport and also of Repsol at high-level competition.
Marc Márquez keeps the energy company's support, which he has since his debut on the World Championship at only 15. Together they also won the World Championship title just a few months ago.
During the preseason tests that took place in Montmeló, Cheste, Estoril and Jerez, the young rider showed an extraordinary capability to adapt himself to the Moto2 class and has already set times among the top registers of all those tracks.
Thanks to Repsol's support, Marc Márquez will face this new challenge surrounded by a highly experienced team, spearheaded by the ex rider Emilio Alzamora and the technical manager, Santi Hernández.
Repsol, after more than 40 years in the high-level competition world, will continue its presence in MotoGP – the World Championship's premier class – with a fantastic team that includes Dani Pedrosa, Andrea Dovizioso and Casey Stoner.
The Marc Márquez's team launch, that was held at La Pedrera, in Barcelona, also served to confirm once again Repsol's determined support of young stars. The energy company will again be present in the 125cc class of the Spanish Road Racing Championship with two very young talents: Álex Rins and Álex Márquez, Marc's younger brother.
The official launch was attended by a broad representation of Repsol, spearheaded by its Executive Director for Communication and Chairman's office, Begoña Elices.
Marc Márquez will start tomorrow the last preseason tests in Jerez before the beginning of the World Championship, that will set off next march 20 in Losail Circuit (Qatar).
I am very happy that we can see the bike with the new colours, I was looking forward to riding it with the final livery. When you ride such a beautiful bike, it is even more exciting. First of all, I want to thank Repsol and Catalunya Caixa for their support.
The bike is very nice-looking, it looks like Dani's MotoGP, with Repsol colours and also with the Catalunya Caixa colours. I am very excited
about this project and I am looking forward to start. For the moment everything looks fine and now I have to be fast on the track".
Executive Director for Communication and Chairman's office of Repsol

Marc perfectly represents many of the values of a company such as Repsol: effort, team work, optimism, talent, thoroughness… We have supported him for some years now and we are excited about this new stage of his career at the Moto2 category".
