World SBK 2023

Post by Apical »

The Three fast Men are back as one would expect.
Joined by some new faces. Dominique Aegerter, Remy Gardner and someone by the name of Danilo Petrucci.

There is an Aussie in SBK again at long last! Remy G is an unknown on a superbike, I am hoping Remy will do well.

Tom Sykes is back! Lorenzo Baldassari moves up to Superbikes on an R1.

Oli Bayliss still in WSS and he is joined by a few more Aussies as well. Tommy Edwards and Luke Power, both riding R6s.
Both doing the "WSS Challenge" which is the European rounds. Not sure if either will be at P.I. in February. But Bayliss should be.

Tom Edwards has done a few seasons in WSS 300 and last year raced in WSS 600. As well as ASBK SS on an R6. I have met Tom a few times, friendly enough off the track. Real racer on it! Won twice at the paperclip in Queensland only to be disqualified due to an illegal engine.

Luke Power raced in MotoAmerica supersport last year. Took a second and a third place, ending 5th in the championship.

These guys could do well.

Stefano Manzi jumps off the Triumph and onto another R6.

World SBK 23 Four weeks

Post by Apical »

Twenty five days to go before I ride down to P.I. for SBK again.

Just over three months between pilgrimages.

To early to predict but based on the test it looks like top [real] independent will be a battle between Aegrter, Pettrucci and Gardner and if they do well they could pose a risk to Rinaldi, Lows and Locatilli loosing their seats when their contracts run out

SBK 23 Starting SOON!

Post by Apical »

The testing is over and real live racing is about to restart.

I plan on riding to P.I. on Thursday. Anyone also planning to make the pilgrimage to P.I.?

Feel free to send me a message.

It's on again in Indonesia!
The circuit started rather dirty on Friday morning, slowly getting better.

Some riders not doing as well as they did at Philip Island.

A few who have never ridden the Mandalika circuit before. Some fast learners.

The weekend's races should be interesting.

Bautisa off to a fantastic start, 5 wins from 6 races + 1 DNF

Gardner had food poisoning, missing Saturday racing including qualifying. Fantastic result on Sunday considering he was still getting over it and started from the back of the grid
