2018 Qatar MotoGP Test Saturday Final Times: Zarco Leads Yamaha One-Two

Johann Zarco leaves the final MotoGP test of the season as fastest overall after having set a scintillating lap in the final couple of hours of Saturday. The Monster Tech3 Yamaha rider was a quarter of a second faster than anyone else at Qatar, and posted a respectable long run during the final day.

After a difficult couple of days, the Movistar Yamaha team put in a strong final push, Valentino Rossi leaving with the second fastest time, with a quick lap in the last hour of the test. Rossi had early done a longer run in the low 1'55s, suggesting progress had been made by the team.

Andrea Dovizioso took third spot, a few hundredths of a second behind Rossi, the factory Ducati rider confirming his pace. Cal Crutchlow was the fastest of the Hondas on the final day, the LCR rider four tenths off the time of Zarco. Maverick Viñales also made a big jump in the final hour, taking fifth spot just behind Crutchlow on the second Movistar Yamaha. Marc Marquez ended the day as sixth, a tenths behind Viñales, and just ahead of Suzuki's Alex Rins. Pramac rider Danilo Petrucci led a trio of Ducatis all within a tenth of one another, Petrucci faster than factory rider Jorge Lorenzo and Pramac teammate Jack Miller in tenth.

Dani Pedrosa was the last rider to get within a second of Zarco in eleventh, though he was only half a second slower than Rossi in second. Franco Morbidelli was the fastest of the rookies, taking twelfth place 1.1 seconds behind Zarco.

The full test has now stopped, and a test in wet conditions is currently underway, and set to run between 8:30pm and 9pm.
