2015 World Superbike Rider Line Up Announced

The FIM today announced the provisional rider line up for the 2015 season. The grid will see up to 26 riders line up for the start, on motorcycles from 7 different manufacturers. The list includes one TBA, in the Pedercini Kawasaki team, which could end up going unfilled. The other question mark is over the JR Racing Team of Toni Elias and Ayrton Badovini. Though the team is on the entry list, persistent reports of financial problems suggest that they will struggle to race at all this year. They will not be present in Australia for the season opener, and suppliers report not having been paid.

Look at all those BMW's! Testament to that motor in current rules. Anyone have an idea how strong the Ducati is going to be in this tune?

Kawasaki - Rea's # is one better than Tom's, right where I put them in the standings at the end of the season. ..1 and 2

That is one interesting line-up! A good spread of different brands, and plenty of them. Just missing those thundering KTM RC8R's that were so successful in the German championship...
I'm really hoping for Leon Haslam on the new RSV4 RF, he's had a coupe of horrid years on the Fireblade (and the two BMW years were not that lucky either). It was as recent as 2010 that he was seriously challenging for the title on the GSX-R1000, so I hope he can return to that form on that gorgeous Aprilia.

It's also going to be interesting to see what Niccolò Canepa can do on the EBR 1190RX. Last year Erik Buell had two veteran riders that were not really getting the most out of the bike, I think. Of course the bike was way to slow on power as well, but hopefully that too will be improved this year. I just have massive respect for Erik that he is even taking on this challenge with these uniquely designed and built motorcycles, after Harley pulled the plug out of Buell. Also seems silly that he can not use his own name for his bikes.
Anyway, of course EBR is not going to win any races any time soon, but if we only allow potential race winners on the grid, it is going to be a very small and boring grid indeed. I love those exotic entries.
