Gresini Switch To KTM, Sign Antonelli And Isaac Viñales For 2014 Moto3 Season

The Moto3 market is starting to get going. After the announcement that Jack Miller is to move to the Ajo team, and news that Alex Rins' will stay with his Estrella Galicia team in Moto3 for 2014, now Gresini has announced their Moto3 line up for next season. Young Italian Niccolo Antonelli will stay with the team for another season, while Isaac Viñales will switch from the Ongetta team to join Gresini. The team itself joins the rush to abandon the Honda motor, dropping the FTR Honda in favor of the KTM.

Below is the press release from Gresini announcing the signing:

Team GO&FUN Gresini Moto3 has put the finishing touches to its next “Progetto Giovani” youth development project at Misano today, completing the contractual formalities that will see Niccolò Antonelli line up alongside Isaac Viñales in 2014. It is an ambitious project that unites two young riders who have shown examples of their potential throughout the current season. It is also the latest step in a growing relationship between Fausto Gresini and Bruno Bollini (GO&FUN President) as they look to develop the career of the young Italian and Spanish riders.

Fausto Gresini “I always believed in this project and today I am more convinced about it than ever. We have put together a new line-up of two promising youngsters with Niccolò, who has been with us for two years already, and Isaac Viñales in the belief that they can both be serious contenders in the Moto3 class in 2014. Bruno Bollini (Presidente GO&FUN) shares my belief and together we have the right enthusiasm to create a winning team.”

Bruno Bollini (Presidente GO&FUN) “I immediately found the “Progetto Giovani” that Fausto Gresini proposed to me an exciting prospect and like our products we think we have a team that has the right 'energy' to be successful next season. I am proud to have two young and promising riders like Niccolò Antonelli - who we already have an excellent relationship with – and the big Spanish talent Isaac Vinales on board. I am sure that next year Team GO&FUN Moto3 will be a winning package.”
